INTRODUCTION TO SYSTEMIC PATHOLOGY

UNIVERSITI KUALA LUMPUR MESTECH HLB 22104 SYSTEMIC PATHOLOGY

INTRODUCTION

Human perform homeostasis. If body cant correct the abnormalities in body???? Normal and abnormalities. Disease. Express disease.

TERMS

Disease Pathology Etiology Idiopathic Sign Symptoms Homeostasis Prognosis and diagnosis Acute and chronic disease Remission and exacerbation

DIAGNOSIS

Determination of nature of disease by:

Sign and symptoms. Laboratory results. Laboratory tests:

Urinalysis Blood chemistry Electrocardiography Radiography Diagnostic imaging technique Biopsy Surgical removal

Diversity of epidemiology

Inflammation Autoimmune Allergy Infections Neoplasm Heredity Malnutrition Stress

Some athletes may develop abnormally high red blood cell counts. Why? In the athletes case, is this a sign of disease?

Pathogenesis of disease

Disease are complex-molecular and cellular level. Interferon is a substances that stimulate immune system. Defences mechanisms of body systeminflammation. Autoimmunity- tolerance-fails-autoimmune disease-autoantiboides. Eg of autoimmune disease:-rheumatic fever, glomerulonephritis, myasthenia gravis, and rheumatoid arthritis, SLE.

What is aging?

How aging occur? Life span of human. Factors contribute to aging:

Environmental stress Cellular, genetic.

Telomere clock
Do you know about cell cycle? Contribution of telomere???

Homeostasis imbalance & Development of disease

ISSUE ABOUT AGING???

Bad or good. What are the effects??? Concern-What happen to human body if we reach senescence. Age-related disease.

Too much theories in aging???

How far we know about all the theories related to aging??? Lets dig more
