A quadratic function can be expressed in the form f(x) = a (x + p)2 + q, where a, p and q are constants. a) when a > 0 , the minimum point is (-p, q) and the minimum value is q. b) when a < 0 , the maximum point is (-p, q) and the maximum value is q.
