What is non linear equation

By: Mr. Mubarak Ali

Definition
Equation whose graph does not form straight line.
In a non-linear equation the variables are either of

degree greater then 1 or less then 1 but never 0 Examples

Types of non-linear equation

Some non-linear functions have specific names
Quadratic Function Cubic Function

When we draw a non linear graph we will need more than three points that we clearly plot the more points accurate our graph will be.

Non linear graphs

TO DRAW A NON LINEAR GRAPH WE SHOULD;

Select at least 7 x coordinates at regular intervals.
Substitute these of x into the equation to find y

coordinates. Plot the points found. Join the points with a smooth curve.

EXAMPLE
DRAW THE GRAPH OF Y=2X^2+3 FOR VALUES

OF X B/W -3 AND +3. FOR THIS GRAPH IT IS SENSIBLE TO CHOOSE ALL WHOLE NUMBER VALUES OF X B/W -3 AND +3

Systems of Non-Linear Equations

Learning Objective(s)

Solve systems of equations involving linear, quadratic, and other non-linear functions.

Introduction

By: Mohsin Raza Memon

A system of equations is a set of two or more equations that

share two or more unknowns. The solutions to a system of equations are all the values that make all of the equations true, or the points where the graphs of the equations intersect.

We can solve a system of linear and Non-linear

equations through graphing, substitution and linear combination. Systems of nonlinear functions, such as quadratic or exponential equations, can be handled with the same techniques.

Summary
Solving systems of non-linear equation can be done

using the techniques of graphing, substitution and linear combination. Just like with systems of linear equations, when we find solutions to systems of nonlinear equations, we are finding the intersection of their graphs or the places where the equations have the same variable values.

Solving Non-Linear Equation With the Help of Graphs

By: Muhammad Attique Shah

As Mr Mohsin said that solution of non-linear

equation can also be find by the same techniques as that of linear equation It should also me rememberred that different nonlinear Equations have different solutions as given in following examples

"SOLUTIONS" FOR SYSTEMS ARE INTERSECTIONS OF

THE LINES
Then, graphically, the solutions for this system are the redhighlighted points at right:

That is, the solutions to this system are the points (2, 4) and (2, 4). So when you're trying to solve a system of equations, you're trying to find the coordinates of the intersection points

The system shown above

has two solutions, because the graph shows two intersection points. A system can have one solution:

...lots of solutions:

...or no solutions at all:

(In this last situation, where there was no solution, the

system of equations is said to be "inconsistent".)

Summary
Solving systems of non-linear equation can be done

using the techniques of graphing, substitution and linear combination. Just like with systems of linear equations, when we find solutions to systems of nonlinear equations, we are finding the intersection of their graphs or the places where the equations have the same variable values.
