Presentation on maintenance of Distribution Systems

SAFETY
Before carrying out any maintenance work, all the safety procedures should be strictly adhered to. SAFETY FIRST,SAFETY NEXT,SAFETY ALWAYS

Maintenance of Distribution Transformer

Replacement of burnt out lead wires. Load balancing on all three phases. Peak load recording on transformers at least once in a week. Load condition Balancing of loads.

Maintenance of Distribution Transformer

If overloaded a. load bifurcation. b. Provision for additional transformer.
Check oil level - Topping up of oil if necessary. Check oil level - Bi-annual testing of samples of oil both top and bottom oil samples to be taken.

Maintenance of Distribution Transformer

Breather Conditioning of silica jel / replacement of container (breather) if necessary. Tightening of Bushings terminals/ Cleaning. Providing protection on both HT and LT side. 3 Nos of triangular grounding to be provided ,each separated by a minimum distance of 6 metres.

Maintenance of Distribution Transformer

Use of graded fuse wires. Renovation of neutral ground connections. Confirmation of ground connections transformer body, LA and T.C structure. Providing surge arrestors. Use of composite insulators ( to be discussed )

Maintenance of Distribution Transformer

Maintenance of G.O.S Application of paraffin wax( petroleum jelly) and lubricant oil whenever necessary.

Alignment of G.O.S unit. Replacement of entire unit if even one limb gets worn out / burnt out.

Maintenance of 11kV / LTlines

Trimming of tree branches Tightening of loose spans. Providing of intermediate poles if necessary. Straightening of slanted poles / providing guys if necessary Tightening of guy wires/replacement if necessary. Spacers to be provided

Maintenance of 11kV/LT lines

Replacement of chipped out insulators. Bifurcation of loads if overloaded. Tightening of jumper connections. Use of wedge connectors preferred. Preferred over use of P.G clamps.

Maintenance of 11kV/LT lines

Any metal boxes on the pole to be grounded Street light phase wire to be easily identifiable from the ground level In marshy areas, concrete filling to be provided for the poles wherever necessary.

Maintenance of UG Cable.

Avoid overload.
Observe for crack, damage, etc in cable termination/Pothead.seal them using M-seal compounds wherever necessary.

RMU and Feeder Pillar boxes.

Replacement of burnt out/ worn out spares immediately. Cleaning of contacts, spout insulators. Checking of tripping mechanism.

Service mains
All meter terminal covers should be sealed. Grounding at the meter board and at sealable cutouts should be properly done by the consumer as per norms and this has to be verified periodically. Inspection of meters- MNR,sticky meters, direct connections to be immediately reported and action taken . Any defects noticed in the consumers premises after the point of commencement of supply,to be brought to the notice of the consumer.
