THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEAM GAMES TOURNAMENT (TGT) IN IMPROVING STUDENTS VOCABULARY BY USING VISUAL AIDS

Background of Problem
Improving vocabulary is not an easy way to do. Some ways has been being applied to achieve the vocabulary mastery better; however, it has not been changed the condition. Owning lack of glossaries to hold both speaking and understanding simple text by students of English Language Courses in Sidenreng Rappang. Vocabulary teaching is one of the most important components of any language class.

Keeping students own adequate vocabulary, it needs a different way to improve students vocabulary not only to write but also to apply it. The best way is by means of visual aids in teaching vocabulary. To introduce the meaning of new words by using visual aids is one of techniques in teaching vocabulary. To create relaxing atmosphere in teaching vocabulary by using visual aids, it will be applied one of teaching models as it called Team Game Tournament or TGT.

Problem Statements
How can be applied Team Games Tournament in improving students vocabulary using visual aids? How do visual aids assist students in comprehending and remembering new vocabulary?

Objectives of Research

The objective of research is to find out the effectiveness of team games tournament (TGT) in improving students vocabulary by using visual aids. A further subsidiary aim is to assist students in comprehending and remembering new vocabulary.

Significance of Research

Motivating students to improve their vocabulary. Encouraging each other to compete in achieving success learning vocabulary. Creating an atmosphere of learning that not forcing students to learn.
