Catholic Churchs Position on Family planning

On July 31, 1975, Julio R. Cardinal Rosales, pres. Of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, made the following classifications on the stand of the Church in the Philippine Population Program

The Church is in accord with the Government on the need for family planning. The church has always advocated responsible parenthood.

The church respects the Government responsibility in making available to the citizens such means of family planning that would not violate their conscience of those employed by the Government in its program.
The church advocated the family life program which upholds human dignity, healthful marital love and family relationship, and which teaches that the means for family planning is the natural method, with the exclusion of artificial contraceptives, sterilization and abortion. The church maintains that the individual conscience is the ultimate arbiter in the choice of the means for family planning.

Pope Paul VI Encyclical Humanae Vitae

Responsible Parenthood entails a human understanding of biological

laws which is part of human personality. Responsible Parenthood demands that man must control nature (instincts and passion) controlling man. Responsible Parenthood decides with either to have numerous family or to avoid for the time being or even for an indefinite period after weighing serious motives and considering the moral law Responsible Parenthood means that the couple makes the decisions in the light of their duties toward God, their own selves, their family and society.

Humanae Vitae and Birth Control (Encyclical Humanae Vitae outlines the following position):
It indorses the limiting of family size, but It condemns:
Artificial birth control Directing sterilization (considered immoral) Any action before, during, or after the marital act, that would make a new

birth impossible

It stresses two positive values:

The value of human life and Responsible parenthood especially as directly related to the marital act

Thus, the only means of conception control is A NATURAL DISPOSITION which is THE RHYTHM METHOD as approved by Pope Paul VI For All Catholics.
