THE WORLD
A Prophetic People
We covenant ourselves to
be a prophetic people,
inspired and directed by the
Holy Spirit, and committed
to uphold God’s Word as
our rule of faith and
practice.
A Prophetic People
• Not a company of Prophets.
• The essential nature and
mission of the Church.
• A people that live and think
biblically.
• A people that discern truth from
error – right from wrong.
A Prophetic People
• A people that engage our culture
without being defined by it.
• A people that listen to God and
do what He is asking.
• A people that speak to others
the words, currently revealed by
God, that strengthen,
encourage, and comfort.
Priorities
of a
Prophetic
People
Priorities of a Prophetic People
2. Intimate Relationship with Jesus.
3. Obey God and Let Him Work it Out.
4. Let God Fight Your Battles.
5. Wait Upon the Lord.
6. View Everything as From God.
7. Define Ministry by Your Burden.
8. Serve God Out of Your Weakness.
Prophetic
People
Are
Discerning
Discernment is …
• ability to think biblically
about all areas of life.
• ability to distinguish
good from evil.
Discernment is …
• ability to detect truth
from falsehood.
• ability to make
decisions that are in
agreement with God.
Discernment is …
• what enables us to
engage our culture and
be salt and light.
Living In the World but
not being Of the World.
As long as I am
in the world, I
am the light of
the world. (John 9:5)

Joel 2:28-29
And afterward, I will pour out my
Spirit on all people. You sons an
daughters will prophesy, your old
men will dream dreams, your
young men will see visions. Even
on my servants, both men and
women, I will pour out my Spirit in
those days.
(Acts 2:16)
Numbers 11:24-29
24 So Moses went out and reported
the Lord’s words to the people. He
gathered the seventy elders and
stationed them around the
Tabernacle. 25 And the Lord came
down in the cloud and spoke to
Moses. Then he gave the seventy
elders the same Spirit that was upon
Moses. And when the Spirit rested
upon them, they prophesied. But
this never happened again.
Numbers 11:24-29 (cont.)
26 Two men, Eldad and Medad, had
stayed behind in the camp. They were
listed among the elders, but they had
not gone out to the Tabernacle. Yet
the Spirit rested upon them as well,
so they prophesied there in the
camp.
27 A young man ran and reported to
Moses, “Eldad and Medad are
prophesying in the camp!”
Numbers 11:24-29 (cont.)
28 Joshua son of Nun, who had been
Moses’ assistant since his youth,
protested, “Moses, my master, make
them stop!”
29 But Moses replied, “Are you
jealous for my sake? I wish that all
the Lord’s people were prophets
and that the Lord would put his
Spirit upon them all!”
1 Corinthians 14:39
Therefore, my brothers, be
eager to prophesy.
