Balanced Regional Development

What is balance development?

It can be defined as the creation of equal opportunities for all people to participate in, contribute to and benefit from development. The study argues that the requirement for such a balanced development is human development, which is the process of enlarging peoples choices as to what they do and can do in their lives. Poverty limits the opportunity of many people to develop their capabilities and thereby limits their choices as to what they can do in their lives and how they can participate in development

Regional stability
It can be defined as the consistency of people in a region in their social activity and economic condition. It depends on many factors like culture, tradition, location, politics & agroeconomic conditions of that region.

Balanced regional development

BALANCED REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT has remained a central theme of our development strategy. Industrial dispersal was envisaged to play an important role in correcting the regional imbalances and ensuring a balanced regional development.

Industrially Backward Regions of India

Industrially backward region is such which is devoid of industrial development. So industrial development is the harbinger of economic development such area also remains economic backward. Consequently the quality of life of people is very bad and poverty level is very high. Committee on Dispersal of Industries set up by the Small Scale Industries Board in 1960 was the first to identify the industrially backward areas for purpose of rural industrialisation. Thereafter Pandey Committee was set up in 1968 for the identification of industrially backward areas in the country. This was followed by the setting up of the Wanchoo Committee in 1968 for suggesting financial and economic measures for removing such backwardness.

Scope For Market Growth.

In

India,

developed regions are only the

because there is no barriers

urban areas

in the process of economic growth. All the facilities are available in urban areas as compared to rural areas such as transport,

land , resources , lab our i.e. why industries

prefer in a urban areas.

In

urban areas , all the resources such as

labour, transport, electricity, technology etc. are easily available . That the reason why urban regions are develop but if we see in rural areas all the economic overheads are not available at any cost . For e.g. iron and steel industry .

Socio-Cultural Factors consist of values and traditions

either encourage or discourage innovation and

entrepreneurship. Since most of the rural families are dependent in agriculture and their income is highly influenced by climatic conditions. But if the rural families are always dependent on agricultural income , then rural families always remain backward and not able to develop .

Political

factors are the important set of factors.

Although they are different, rural and urban areas are politically and economically integrated and form one system. But Political decisions for one part of a country can have negative impact for

other parts. Differences in political power between

regions can result in intended or unintended biases in government policies.
