HR planning is the process including forecasting, developing and controlling by which a firm ensures that it has the right

ht number of people and right kind of people at the right places at the right time doing work for which they are economically most useful.

in the light of organizational goals. 2. HR plan must be directed towards welldefined objectives. 3. HR plan must ensure that it has the right number of people and right kind of people at the right places at the right time doing work for which they are economically most useful.

HR Planning at different levels


1. HRP at National Level The govt. plans for human resources at the

national level. HRP at national level helps to plan for the following: 1. Educational facilities. 2. Health care facilities. 3. Agricultural and industrial development. 4. Employment plans, etc.

2. HRP at Sectoral Level HRP at the sectoral level helps to plan for a particular sector like agriculture, industry etc. 3. HRP at the Industry Level Takes into account the output operational level of that particular industry when manpower needs are considered.

HRP at Unit Level HRP at the company level is based on the estimation of human resource needs of the particular company.
5. HRP at Departmental Level Looks at the manpower needs of a particular department in an organization.
