INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

CONTENTS:

Definition of information technology The birth of information technology what is included in information technology Greater inventions of information technology What role it plays in everyday lives What is its impact on whole world,

Definition of IT:

The term information means to give or convey some knowledge and the term technology means to deals with the arts of technical sciences, the study and knowledge of a technology or use of the mechanical arts and applied sciences

Birth of IT:

The birth of IT is from the day when first computer named Mark-| computer was made in the year 1973. Made by IBM it used over 3000 electrically activate switches to control its operations and was approx 50feet long and 8 feet high. But this machine was too slow,

Includes in Information Technology

Every thing now a days includes in IT .

In our homes banks school colleges universities there are lots of everyday examples of IT.

Greatest inventions of IT
It includes Computer Radio Telephone Fax machine Television Mobile phone Boosters Satellites Internet Universal Serial Bus (USB) IPods And a lot many etc

Computer

The first computers were people! That is, electronic computers (and the earlier mechanical computers) were given this name because they performed the work that had previously been assigned to people. "Computer" was originally a job title: it was used to describe those human beings (predominantly women) whose job it was to perform the repetitive calculations required to compute such things as navigational tables, tide charts, and planetary positions for astronomical almanacs.

We can make networks through computers by connecting with one another to get its maximum output in a shorter time. This network can be made using wires, optic fibers and connecting connectors and HUB to the main device

This is the image of a latest computer which is thousand hundred times faster than the old ones. It can solve as many problems as you wants just in a seconds of time.

The radio was the invention of early 17th century. This invention brings inn a new revolution I the world of technology that you could hear sound only the sound of a person on a little device, Here is one of the latest radio which can even use as a wireless.

Radio

Telephone

This is one of the largest invention of human being by the day by day progressing technology.

This is a device which can be used to communicate with one another.

Features

You can connect through your phone to the whole world. You can even use internet facility on your phone. etc.

Fax Machine

History of the Fax Machine

Alexander Bain received the first patent for a fax machine in 1843. To fax or faxing is by definition "a method of encoding data, transmitting it over a telephone line or radio broadcast, and receiving a hard copy of the text, line drawings, or photographs at a remote location.

Definition

How Did Alexander Bain's Machine Work? Alexander Bain's fax machine transmitter scanned a flat metal surface using a stylus mounted on a pendulum. The stylus picked up images from the metal surface. An amateur clock maker, Alexander Bain combined parts from clock mechanisms together with telegraph machines to invent his fax machine.

Television

Television is one of the most amazing invention of science and technology.

Advantages of television:
You can watch current situation of the whole world by sitting on your seat, You can watch for example cricket match at your home. If the television is not there you have to spent lots of expenses to watch that match.

Disadvantages of television:
something which has advantages also have disadvantages as from which some are given below.
people can misuse it.
It has a very bad impact on our new generation because programs running on it is not able to see while sitting with your family and sometimes alone. When we switch on the TV it diverts our attention, etc.

Mobile phone

In Europe, radio telephony was first used on the first-class passenger trains between Berlin and Hamburg in 1926. At the same time, radio telephony was introduced on passenger airplanes for air traffic security. Later radio telephony was introduced on a large scale in German tanks during the Second World War. After the war German police in the British zone of occupation first used disused tank telephony equipment to run the first radio patrol cars.

First mobile phone:

The first fully automatic mobile phone system, called MTA (Mobile Telephone system A), was developed by Ericsson and commercially released in Sweden in 1956. This was the first system that did require any kind of manual control, but had the disadvantage of a phone weight of 40 kg (90 lb). MTB, an upgraded version with transistors, weighing 9 kg (20 lb), was introduced in 1965 and used DTMF signaling. It had 150 customers in the beginning and 600 when it shut down in 1983.

First Generation mobile phone:

In 1978, Bell Labs launched a trial of the first commercial cellular network in Chicago using AMPS [1], but this network was not approved by the FCC until 1982. The first commercial launch of cellular telecoms was launched by NET in Tokyo Japan in 1979. In 1981 the NMT system was launched in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. The first handheld mobile phone in the US market was the Motorola Dyna 8000X, which received approval in 1983.

Second Generation Mobile:

In the 1990s, 'second generation' (2G) mobile phone systems such as GSM, IS-136 ("TDMA"), iDEN and IS-95 ("CDMA") began to be introduced. In 1991 the first GSM network (Radiolinja) opened in Finland. 2G phone systems were characterized by digital circuit switched transmission and the introduction of advanced and fast phone-tonetwork signaling. In general the frequencies used by 2G systems in Europe were higher than those in America, though with some overlap. For example, the 900 MHz frequency range was used for both 1G and 2G systems in Europe, so the 1G systems were rapidly closed down to make space for the 2G systems. The second generation introduced a new variant to communication, as SMS text messaging became possible, initially on GSM networks and eventually on all digital networks. The first machine-generated SMS message was sent in the UK in 1991

Third Generation Mobile : The first pre-commercial trial network with 3G was launched by NTT DoCoMo in Japan in the Tokyo region in May 2001. NTT DoCoMo launched the first commercial 3G network on October 1, 2001, using the WCDMA technology. In 2002 the first 3G networks on the rival CDMA2000 1xEVDO technology were launched by SK Telecom and KTF in South Korea, and Monet in the USA. Monet has since gone bankrupt. By the end of 2002, the second WCDMA network was launched in Japan by Vodafone KK During the development of 3G systems, 2.5G systems such as CDMA2000 1x and GPRS were developed as extensions to existing 2G networks. These provide some of the features of 3G without fulfilling the promised high data rates or full range of multimedia services. CDMA2000-1X delivers theoretical maximum data speeds of up to 307 kbit/s. Just beyond these is the EDGE system which in theory covers the requirements for 3G system, but is so narrowly above these that any practical system would be sure to fall short. By the end of 2007 there were 295 Million subscribers on 3G networks worldwide, which reflected 9% of the total worldwide subscriber base. About two thirds of these are on the WCDMA standard and one third on the EV-DO standard.

Boosters:

The boosters are used to boost the radio signals either of Airplane wireless, mobile phone signals, etc Here is one of the picture of worlds largest booster

Satellites

This brings inn a new revolution to the whole world. Many developed countries like USA, CHINA, INDIA, & RUSSIA has his own satellites in space.

With the help of satellites we can find the changes in weather, we can even communicate better if our service provider has configured to the satellite, Now a days we can even see the whole world by visit www.googleearth.com this is the site which helps us to find places easily, The navigator system is also an example of satellite working, By the help of satellite every thing would be more flexible to us, etc.

Internet

Internet is one of the vast and amazing invention of technology.

By the help of internet every thing is under our one click,

Advantages of internet:

E-mail Chatting Online shopping Online banking Online study Online business E-commerce Etc.

Disadvantages of internet:

Internet hacking Misuse of internet Make it for wrong purpose Bad impact on children Etc.

Universal Serial Bus (USB)

The universal serial bus is also from one of the latest technology revolutions.

It has just like a small stick in which we can store data from computer of maximum of its memory e.g. 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB etc and lot more, The mostly used USBs in Pakistan are KINGSTON,SONY, HAWLETT

IPODS

Ipod is just like a walkman phone, it has memory to store any thing in it. It can use as a mini computer but the exception in it is there is no internet or network available in this but we can manage any of our office work on it.

Types of IPOD:

Nano Video Simple

Extra
There are lots of new inventions if progressive technology day by day, and they are I a large numbers so that we cant explain even all of these. This may includes Vehicles Aero planes Air-conditioned Speakers Compressers Pumps Laser guns Radars etc
