-Formal education begins at school - transmits common culture -Education for the aim of society -Certain subjects & knowledge prepares students for democracy & freedom -Formulated mainly in cognitive terms -Values & belifs tend to be objective & if not absolute than based on agreed standards/truths

-Formal education begins with family -Schools improved society -Edu involves varied opportunities to develop ones potential & engage in personal choices. - democratic experiences in school help prepare students for democracy and freedom. -Edu concern with social , moral and cognitive terms. -Values and belief are subjective
