70S &80s Rock

What Is Rock?
Rock music is a genre of music that was generated from rock and roll in the 1950. After that it developed into different styles in the 1960 especially in the UK and the USA. Its roots came from the south of America, mixture of Country and Blues.New orleans,Missisippi and Oklahoma with the vibe from Texas,Georgia and Tennessee. The Doors one of the first rock and Roll bands ever to be produced was the start of a new music era.

The fifties bring the birth of Rock and Roll with rhythm and blues, country and music coming together in Rock 'n Roll. With hits first appearing on the charts, from Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and many more take rock music and influence everyone worldwide.

By the end of 1962, what would become the British rock scene had started with beat groups like The Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers from Liverpool and Freddie and the Dreamers, they changed the sound of standard American tune. Bands like The Animals from Newcastle and particularly those from London like The Rolling Stones were much more about rhythm and blues and later blues music.

Early 1970s Rock,Heavy Metal And Soft Rock

The 1970s saw the start of hard rock as one of the most biggest subgenres of rock music. Bands like Alice Cooper and Deep Purple were popular by 1972.The guitar sounds became heavier and the rhythm became faster. Several bands had become famous, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Aerosmith and Kiss.

Heavy metal music gained followers in the 1970s, led by Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple, with their styles later helping other bands like Judas Priest, which eventually started the New Wave of British Heavy Metal in the 1980s

Early 1970s Soft Rock continued

Soft rock was on many hit radio stations throughout the 1970s. Major soft rock artists of the 1970s included Billy Joel, and Fleetwood Mac, whose Rumours was the best selling album of the decade. Bob Dylan's 1975-1976 Rolling Thunder reunited him with a number of rock acts from his early days.

A little groups of rebels, calling themselves the Ramones, the Sex Pistols and the Clash were shaking things up with something they called rock and roll, but the writers called it "punk rock. Punk rock developed in New York City in the mid-1970s. Bands like Blondie played loud, angry songs.. The music soon spread over to Britain, where bands started playing punk rock in 1976-1977. Early 1980s Rock

Beginning in 1983, the decade saw hard rock music and glam metal subgenre. Bands such as Queen, Bon Jovi,Twisted Sister and Poison were the most popular acts. The 1980s saw the wildly popular hard rock band Guns N' Roses ,The success of hard rock act Van Halen. Additionally, a few women managed to get stardom in the 1980s.
