COMP SCI EDUCATION WEEK


December 9th to !4th is the Computer Science Education Week. Clements Computer Science and Clements Girls in computing would like to invite you to Lab 2513 to explore an hour of code. The Lab will be open daily after school this week. We look forward to seeing you.

SPEECH TEAM WINS


The Clements Academic Speech Team earned the first place sweepstakes award at the Westside/Harmony Tournament this past weekend. Of the 17 students competing in individual events Friday, 6 students advanced to the final rounds of extemporaneous speaking and two of them earned qualifications to the Texas Forensic Association State Meet to be held in March 2014. Five students advanced to the final round of original oratory

State Thespian Results


Elizabeth Swanson qualified for nationals with her costume design for Cinderella. Ryan Brophy received a $1000 performance scholarship. Fran Ghizzoni was elected as the chair for the student state board.

HOSA WINNERS
Last week several HOSA members competed in the online testing for Area 2. Congratulations to the Creative Problem Solving team they placed 2nd out of 14 teams. Please congratulate the members of this team: Isbella Cruz, Anusha Kemmireddy, and Maya Seernani.

CHS GERMAN TEACHER


Rustin Buck was chosen as one of the three German "Teachers of Excellence" this year. He received the award at the ACTFL conference this past Saturday in Orlando.

TRACK MEETING
Mandatory track meeting on Monday December 9 right after school in the downstairs lecture hall. If you have any questions please see Coach Gaston in room 1325.

Way to Go, Mu Alpha Theta


Please congratulate the Clements Mu Alpha Theta Math Club on two successful weekends of competition. On Saturday November 16th, the students competed in the Texas A&M University Math Contest and won 1st place sweepstakes. Also, on Saturday November 23rd the students competed in the Dulles High School TMSCA Contest, winning 1st place sweepstakes as well.

Zach Grafe Tournament


Saturday, January 11th, we will be hosting a Round Robin tournament at the CHS softball field throughout the day beginning at 9AM. After the tournament, we host a CHS Softball Alumni event. Former CHS softball players come together to participate in a slow pitch softball game verses our current CHS softball players. Tickets for this event will be sold for a minimum donation of $5.00. Tickets will go on sale after the semester break. All proceeds will go to the Zach Grafe Fund which will be used to help with immediate financial needs, and then any remaining funds will be applied to a college fund set up for the three kids.

Sugar Land Exchange Club, The Sugar Land Rotary Club, Fort Bend Exchange Club and Project Smile have joined forces to provide Christmas gifts for thousands of deserving children in Fort Bend County. Bring a new, unwrapped toy or gift For children infant -17 Place gift in collection box by front office They will come pick the gifts up on December 6th.. Please support this wonderful cause

Breakfast Food Drive


How can you help? Donate non-perishable breakfast food items for Holiday Cheer from December 2-6, 2013. Look for Clements PALS during drop off in the mornings at the front circle drive, the band entrance, and the bus ramp entrance to collect your donated food items. Alternatively, drop off breakfast items in the boxes located at the main entrance, attendance office entrance, and band hall entrance anytime the week of December 26.

COMP SCI WINS


Computer Science students competed in the USA Computer Olympiad this weekend. The results were released today. Please congratulate the following students for their achievements Raymond Chee Advanced to the Gold level Michael Lo Piccolo advanced to Silver level with a perfect score in the bronze level Alexander Yang , Jeffrey Zhang advanced to Silver level

Pro Grad
Cookbooks are in and we will be selling them every Friday at lunch time until Dec. 20th. They also will be available at the ProGrad meetings and on line at the CHS ProGrad website. Also if you pre-ordered your cookbooks, please pick them up at the ProGrad meetings or any Friday during the lunch hour at the Cookbook Sales table located on the stage. Cookbooks are $10.00

Seniors, over 400 of you have turned in your senior quote. Yearbook is still accepting them. Please stop by room 2801 and fill out your quote.

COLLEGE VISITS
