(dari bahasa Yunani (pan) yang artinya "semua dan (demo) yang artinya "orang adalah epidemi penyakit menular yang menyebar melalui populasi manusia di seluruh kawasan yang luas, misalnya beberapa benua, atau bahkan di seluruh dunia

Epidemi

Suatu penyakit atau keadaan tidak dapat dikatakan sebagai pandemi hanya karena menewaskan banyak orang. Contoh, meskipun kanker menimbulkan angka kematian tinggi tetapi tidak dapat digolongkan pandemi karena tidak ditularkan Dikatakan bahwa pandemi influenza terjadi setiap 30-40 tahun
