Risk factors and causes of Breast Cancer :

The number one risk factor is simply being Female.

 Age
Breast Cancer occurs more often in women over 50 and less common in Premenopausal Women, according to the Phil. Cancer Society.

 Family History
Family History of breast

cancer have a greater risk of developing the disease.

Highest when the breast

cancer occurs in a firstdegree relative (mother, sister or daughter) when the cancer occurs before age 50.
Ovarian Cancer also

increases the risk of breast cancer in women.

 Genetic

Factors
Inheriting mutations or

alterations of certain genes called BRCA1 and BRCA2 A women with these genes has an 80 percent chance of developing breast cancer.

 Women with a family history of breast cancer maybe tested for

the mutated gene.

But several studies have shown nearly 200 gene mutations associated with some Breast Tumors.

Hormones may increase the risk of breast cancer. * Hormonal influences are believed to raise the risk :

Early Menarche Women who started their period 12 years of age.

Late Menopause Women who go through menopause after age 55.

 Pregnancy

Women who

have their first child after the age of 30 Who have had fewer pregnancies Or no pregnancies.

Signs and symptoms of Breast Cancer

Rash on the skin of the breast, areola or nipple that

A lump in the underarm area. Nipple tenderness. A change in the size or shape of the breast. A nipple partially or completely retracted inward (into the breast)

Types and differences of Breast Cancer

Some cancer diagnoses are followed by the words in situ

(cancer is contained to a single area) such as a milk duct or lobule, and shows no sign of invasion.
Infiltrating or invasive carcinoma, when cancer breaks

through the basement membrane that lines the cells from the surrounding lobules or ducts.
Cancer can spread to blood vessels, lymph nodes, and other

parts of the breast. And can spread to other parts of the body.
