• New Approaches to Crop Protection is the first competition to be offered through the
Sustainable Agriculture and Food Innovation Platform, an initiative bringing together
the Technology Strategy Board, DEFRA, and the Biotechnology and Biological
Sciences Research Council

• Up to £13m funding is being made available to support collaborative R&D

projects that aim to respond to the dual challenges of increasing the
productivity of crops whilst at the same time reducing the environmental
impact of crop production
