This new secondary education curriculum in effect is designed to continue pupil development started by PRODED.
Aims to continue what was started in the elementary grades to high school to improve the quality of graduates, broaden accessibility to quality secondary education and promote equity in the allocation of resources, especially at the local level.
Why the need to change the 1973 revised secondary education Program?
1. The multidisciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches which were good features of the 1973 revised curriculum were not reflected in the instructional materials or in the classroom processes; 2. The desire to develop among students good work attitudes fell short of expectations; and 3. The conceptual approach to problem solving in the social sciences proved ineffective for learning the content of social science subjects, etc

AFTER GOING THROUGH THE NEW SECONDARY CURRICULUM, THE STUDENTS SHALL: DEVELOP AND ENGLIGTHENED COMMITMENT TO THE NATIONAL IDEALS BY CHERISHING, PRESERVING, AND DEVELOPING MORAL, SPIRITUAL AND SOCIOCULUTURAL VALUES, AS WELL AS OTHER DESIRABLE ASPECTS OF THE Filipino heritage; OBTAIN KNOWLEDGE AND FORM DESIRABLE ATTITUDES FOR UNDERSTANDING THE NATURE AND PURPOSE OF MAN AND THEREFORE, OF ONES SELF, ONES OWN PEOPLE, AND OTHER RACES, PLACES AND TIME, THEREBY, PROMOTING A KEEN SENSE OF SELF, OF FAMILY AND OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITIES ACQUIRE WORK SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND INFO AND WORK ETHIC ESSENTIAL FOR MAKING AN INTELLIGENT CHOICEE OF AN OCCUPATION OR CAREER, AND FOR SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN SPECIFIC OCCUPATIONS BROADEN AND HEIGHTEN THEIR ABILITIES IN AND APPRECIATION FOR THE ARTS, SCIENCE AND TECH AS A MEANS OF MAXIMIZING THEIR POTENTIALS FOR SELFFULFILLMENT AND FOR PROMOTING THE WELFARE OF OTHERS.
TRY OUT CLASSES WERE REGULARLY MONITORED AND EVALUATED STUDIES TO DETERMINE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF TEACHING AND LEARNING WERE CONDUCTED THESE STUDIES INCLUDED SURVEYS OF STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND ADMINS PERCEPTIONS ON THE NEW TEXTBOOKS, MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION, TIME ALLOTMENT AND NEW SUBJECT AREAS.
