The test consists of 3 sections:
1. Listening Test
2. Written Test (Grammar, Vocabulary, Reading and
Writing)
3. Oral Test
Listen to some conversations/ talks and read 20 questions
about them (0.5 pt/ correct answer). The question will be
followed by 4 answers. You are to choose the best answer
to each question and mark it on your answer sheet.
From the questions and answer choices, try to guess what
the talk is about.
Listen for words in the conversations associated with the
topics of daily life: work, study, travel, traffic,
accommodation, hobbies
Listening strategies:
1. Read the questions and answer choices before you hear the
audio source.
2. Listen for the answers to the questions.

3. Answer the questions quickly before the next conversation
begins.
4. If you dont know the answer, guess. Do not try to work on a
question after the next talk has started.
5. Since each conversation/ talk will be spoken only twice, you
must listen to it carefully to understand and remember
what is being said.
Time allowed: 120 minutes
3 parts:
PART I: GRAMMAR AND VOCABULARY
A. Multiple-choice questions (20 pts/ 20 sentences)
B. Error recognition questions (15 pts/ 10 sentences)
C. Word-provided cloze test (15 pts/ 10 blanks)
PART II: READING COMPREHENSION
Read 3 or 4 passages and choose the best answer (A,B,C or
D) to each question (40 pts/ 20 sentences)
PART III: WRITING
Choose the phrase or clause that best completes the blank
in each sentence. (10 pts/ 10 sentences)

The total number of questions in the written test: 70 questions/
120 minutes

4. Is education the best investment in our children future?
5. Your view of online games
6. Do increasing living costs (petrol prices, food prices)
affect you much? What aspects of your life are being
affected?
7. Your view of Vietnamese young peoples cohabitation
before marriage
8. The importance of English in your field of study
9. Applications of computers in learning/ teaching
10. What you like or dislike about the M.S. program you
are taking
11. Describe your field of study
12. Benefits of computers and some problems they are
causing
13. Do modern science and technology have good as
well as bad effects on our society?
14. The only thing people are interested in is earning more
and more money. Do you agree?
15. Do you think Internet dating is a good way to find a
date? Why or why not?
