Electronic Enabled Training Office & Administration - refers
to the technical aspects of implementing E- learning at the
workplace

Training and development as a function has undergone
significant changes esp. in the last decade after the 1990s

Advent and use of technology has changed the way of
training and its delivery

Accelerating global competition

More globalization, integrated and connected economies,
competition in the domestic and foreign market both for sale,
revenue generation, market penetration & expansion, and
survival

Knowledge explosion

Fast pace of innovation across the globe, necessitating all
players to respond accordingly
Need to introduce knowledge management comprehensive
process of managing knowledge from knowledge creation /
discovery to dissemination to utilization

Continuing reorganization of work structures and
relationships

Reduced hierarchical structures need for flatter structures,
cross functional groupings in order to facilitate decentralized
and faster decision making

Blurred boundaries reduction in compartmentalization, more
easy access and sharing, better connection, communication
and synchronization of work between departments / functions

Teams as basic building blocks - pressures to make rapid
decisions, to reduce inefficiencies, and to continually improve
work processes

Changed management perspective towards employees
employees no more expected to just comply with orders,
rather be committed to organizational goals and mission

Continuous change

Organizations are expected to continue the cycles of reflection
and reorganization. However, changes may be both large and
small and are likely to be interspersed with periods of stability

Kling and Zmuidzinas identify three types of change
Metamorphosis - far reaching, fundamental change
Migration - shifts toward a new form
Elaboration - changes that enhance some aspect of work

More technological sophistication required in the operations and
product / service delivery

Increased workforce diversity

Employees from different countries, cultures, religion, language
etc.
More no. of women in the workforce as compared to before
People from physically disabled groups as part of the workforce

Training budget to be justified by establishing its impact on business
outcomes

Focus on reducing duration of training programmes
Short term programmes just as much required

diversity
Sensitization to different cultures, languages, values, ways of
working etc.
Interpersonal relations
Sensitization towards heterogeneous mix of people gender,
