What kind of virus?

Melissa is a network worm.

What are the warning symptoms?
The macro reads the users address
book and sends itself to multiple
addresses found in the users address
book. This virus can have an adverse
effect on Email systems due to the
increased message traffic created
by this virus. This virus is not specific
any particular messaging platform.

What are the effects?
The Melissa virus is a mass-
mailing macro virus. It can effect
email that is sent and infect the
computer when the email is
opened.

Who spread it?
The Melissa virus was released
by David Smith. The virus was
spread in 1999 and as a result
David Smith was sentenced to 10
years in prison.

What kind of virus?
The Anna Kournikova VBS.SST
computer virus.

What are the warning symptoms?
There is a computer virus rapidly
spreading with the attachment -
"AnnaKournikova.jpg" and the subject
line "Here you have, ;o)" with text "Hi:
Check This!".
If you receive the email, do *NOT* open
the attachment, or the message. Delete
it immediately.

What are the effects?
The Anna Kournikova virus is a self-
replicate virus which means that when the
system is infected with this virus the
system will spread the infection to other
systems which will propagate the virus
further and so on.

Who spread it?
An Internet-based email worm that
masquerades as a picture of tennis star
Anna Kournikova is spreading fast, so
posing a severe threat to the world's
email servers.
Alex Shipp, senior anti-virus technologist
at MessageLabs, which scans customers
email for malicious code, said the
VBS/SST virus is "spreading twice as fast
as the Love Bug".

What kind of virus?
It was called the I love you virus
What are the warning symptoms?
The ILOVEYOU virus comes in an e-mail
note with "I LOVE YOU" in the subject line and
contains an attachment that, when opened,
results in the message being re-sent to
everyone in the recipient's Microsoft Outlook
address book and, perhaps more seriously,
the loss of every JPEG, MP3, and certain
other files on the recipient's hard disk.
Because Microsoft Outlook is widely installed
as the e-mail handler in corporate networks,
the ILOVEYOU virus can spread rapidly from
user to user within a corporation.
What are the effects?
The virus has caused companies
and governments offices damage by
shutting off mail systems, servers,
banking systems and in some cases
caused problems with pagers and/or
paging services.
Who spread it?
A computer virus spread by e-mail
messages titled "ILOVEYOU" has
caused havoc in the United States
after crippling government and
business computers in Asia and
Europe.
