Why command center integration with VTS system?
Operation of 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and scalable to growing business
requirement
Local security operation center to handle the calls at local level
Quick response to critical events /alarms such as incident monitoring events
which is integrated at the global command center
example :- reports of communal violence across the country and
transportation team can be informed by tracking the vehicles in the violence
area.
Optimization of manpower: The centralized monitoring will provide option to
enhance the efficiency with less man power

Global Positioning System (GPS)
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a group of 27 Earth-orbiting satellites (24 in
operation and three extras in case one fails). When people talk about a "GPS," they
usually mean a GPS receiver. The U.S. military developed and implemented this
satellite network as a military navigation system but now lets everyone use the signals.
A GPS antenna is tethered to the unit with a lead wire (typically 10-15 feet). The GPS
antenna collects the GPS data and feeds it to the unit. The unit does some processing
of events and speeds. The GPS data is sent directly from the vehicle's unit to our
servers, where we process the information for the user. All of this happens in real-time
Uses the principle of triangulation and time-of-arrival of signals to determine the
location of a GPS receiver.
To triangulate, a GPS receiver measures distance using the travel time of radio signals.
GPS receiver must track at least 3 satellites to give you an accurate position location.
GPS antenna should be faced to open sky to get the correct position.

General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new bearer service for GSM that greatly
improves and simplifies wireless access to packet data networks
Multimedia messaging service (MMS)
Push to talk over cellular (PTT)

Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM)
Global System for Mobile Communications: originally from Group Special Mobile, is
the most popular standard for mobile telephony systems in the world.
Call Waiting - Notification of an incoming call while on the handset
Call Hold- Put a caller on hold to take another call
Call Barring - All calls, outgoing calls, or incoming calls
Call Forwarding - Calls can be sent to various numbers defined by the user
Multi Party Call Conferencing - Link multiple calls together
Calling Line ID - incoming telephone number displayed
Fax & Data - Virtual Office / Professional Office
Roaming - services and features can follow customer from market to market

Subscriber Identity Module (SIM)
The SIM is a detachable smart card containing the user's subscription information and
phone book. This allows the user to retain his or her information after switching
handsets
A SIM card contains its unique serial number, internationally unique number of the
mobile user (IMSI), security authentication and ciphering information, temporary
information related to the local network, a list of the services the user has access to
and two passwords (PIN for usual use and PUK for unlocking).

14

Short Message Service Center (SMSC)
When a user sends a text message (SMS message) to another user, the message gets
stored in the SMSC (short message service center) which delivers it to the destination
user when they are available. This is a store and forward option.
When an SMS message is sent from a mobile phone, it will reach an SMS center first.
The SMS center then forwards the SMS message towards the destination.
The main duty of an SMSC is to route SMS messages and regulate the process. If the
recipient is unavailable (for example, when the mobile phone is switched off), the
SMSC will store the SMS message.
It will forward the SMS message when the recipient is available.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Geographic information systems (GIS) or geospatial information systems is a set of
tools that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that are linked to
location(s).
GIS is used in geography, remote sensing, land surveying, public utility management,
natural resource management, precision agriculture, urban planning, emergency
management, navigation, aerial video, and localized search engines.
