best way to do this is through your example.

"The most important trip you may take in life is meeting
people half way." - Henry Boye

Allow room for differences and respect other's point of
view. Effective leadership qualities include the ability to give
and take while working with others.

"Talkers have always ruled. They will continue to rule. The smart
thing is to join them." - Bruce Barton

need to work as a team. Many hands make the load lighter.

those individuals responsible), instead of trying to do
everything alone.

STORY ABOUT KING SEJONG
King Sejong was born in 1397. Sejong was a great
advocate of progressive ideas in administration, phonetics,
national script, economics, science, music, medical science and
humanistic studies. His most celebrated achievement was the
creation of the Korean alphabet, Hangul.
4
3

King Sejong was aware that his people needed a writing
system that was designed to express the language of their
everyday speech. He desired that all of his subjects learn and
use the language. He compelled scholars of the Hall of Worthies
to create an alphabet.

The Korean alphabet consists of 11 vowels and 17
consonants, which all can be learned by an uneducated man in a
matter of hours. His persistence and determination to promote
the use of Hangul for the common people showed his passion
for educating the people of his country. Along with this
outstanding contribution to society, Sejong also ordered
compilations of medical books to help cure people and showed
extensive interest in astronomical sciences.

STEVE JOBS
He was one of the most brilliant men in the world.
Without him, there would be no iPads, iPhones, or
Macbooks. But who was he really?

For a quarter of a century, Apple cofounder Steve
Jobs pushed and helped define the boundaries of
computing technology.

He helped start the company in the 1970s. Apples
first big success was the Apple II personal computer in
1977.

In recent years, Apple has been associated with huge
success and huge sales. Ten years ago, Jobs introduced
the world to a new MP3 playerthe now well-known
iPod. The company introduced the iTunes Music Store in
2003, allowing consumers to purchase and download
music with the touch of a button.

4
5
A true breakthrough happened in 2007, when Apple first
showed off its iPhone. The product, more than merely a gadget,
is essentially a computer that can be carried in your pocket.
Consumers agreed that it was a revolutionary product. Many
camped out in front of Apple stores to be the first to buy the
new device. By 2011, the iPhone was selling more than 220,000
units a day.

In 2010, Apple broke into the tablet computer industry with
the iPad. The company sold 14.8 million iPads in 2010, which was
well beyond what industry analysts predicted.

His leadership will be forever felt at Apple and across the
personal-use landscape.

WEEK 11 MY DREAM
Goal: Everyone has a dream that they want to make real. This
topic will help the student analyze what they want to become in
the near future.

Key terms: dream, achieve, believe, goals, succeed
DREAM something that you have wanted very much to do,
be, or have for a long time.
My Dream

My dream is to become a professional photographer. It is
important to me because photography is a good way of keeping a
record of the places you visit, people you know, and things that
you see. It is also fun and a creative hobby.

To reach my dream I will take photography classes in the
summer and take a photography course in school. It will most
probably be hard work but achieving your goal is also probably
hard work.
5
8

I also chose these pictures because photography is all about art
and you also have to develop the film and change the lenses. There are
many types of cameras to choose and work with but they all work on
the same principle and have many parts in common.

Whenever seeing a good picture that I have taken gives me a
great sense of achievement and there is nobody in this world that
doesn't like succeeding. There are times when you fail but you have to
get up and try again and again until you succeed.
5
9
FAMOUS PEOPLE WHO STILL SUCCEEDED DESPITE OF FAILURES.
Michael Jordan: Hes famous for being cut from his high school
basketball team. He turned out to be the greatest basketball player
but never let failure deter him. I love this quote

I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost
almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take
the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over
and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.

Colonel Sanders

The founder of KFC. He started his dream at 65 years old! He
got a social security check for only $105 and was mad. Instead of
complaining he did something about it.

He thought restaurant owners would love his fried chicken
recipe, use it, sales would increase, and hed get a percentage of it. He
drove around the country knocking on doors, sleeping in his car,
wearing his white suit.

Do you know how many times people said no till he got one
yes? 1009 times!

WEEK 12 HOW TO ACHIEVE MY DREAM
Goal: Your dream starts to become a reality the moment you commit
to yourself that you're not just going to imagine it, but that you are
going to plan how to achieve it and then start working that plan.

Key terms: goals, failures, achieve, success
Achieving Goals

A simple four step plan for achieving goals..
1. Choose the goals. Write down your goals. You could even
make a poster and hang it on the fridge or the bedroom wall.
2. Set a time frame. Decide a date by which you would like to
reach your goal. You may need to guide them here to help them
keep it realistic.
3. Break the goal down into stages. Write down everything that
needs to be done.
For example, if the goal is to learn to swim, the steps might be to
find a swim school, buy a bathing suit and goggles, determine
what days your child can attend swim classes etc
4. Plan. Write down exactly when you will perform each of the
steps that were determined in step 3.
For the example of learning to swim, Week 1 research swim
schools in your local area. Week 2 book classes and buy a
bathing suit. Week 3 begin classes.
5. Celebrate. When you achieve your goal celebrate your
achievement!
THE END!

Thank
you!
