Cyberbullying is the use of information

technology to harm or harass other people in

a deliberate, repeated, and hostile manner.

According to U.S. Legal Definitions, Cyber-
bullying could be limited to posting rumors or
gossips about a person in the internet bringing
about hatred in others minds; or it may go to
the extent of personally identifying victims and
publishing materials severely defaming and
humiliating them.
Under the implementing rules and regulation
of RA 10627 (Anti-Bullying act of 2013)
Section 3 letter b number 4 cyber bullying is
defines as: Cyber- bullying or any bullying done
through the use of technology or any electronic
means. The term shall also include any conduct
resulting to harassment, intimidation, or humiliation,
through the use of other forms of technology, such as,
but not limited to texting, email, instant messaging,
chatting, internet, social media, online games, or
other platforms or formats
The easy access to internet or text messages
is the main reason why cyberbullying is so
rampant. It gives the person the opportunity
to terrorize the victim without any detection
of his identity. This very accessible way and
probably the most untraceable way of
bullying gives the person security in doing
such act.
Cyberstalking

Outing

Masquerading
Cyberstalking may not be such a common form of
cyber bullying, but it does occur on a daily basis all
over the world. It can be very scary and annoying to
be cyber bullied because it is the type of bullying
that involves someone individually sending
messages through text messages, emails, or social
media messages. These messages could either be
threatening, rude, or just plain trying to hurt the
persons feelings. The worst thing about this form
of bullying is the fact that it can turn to physical
bullying, so it must be stopped as soon as possible.
Flaming is also a very common form of bullying
that can be very hurtful to the victim. This
specific form of bullying involves the
correspondences of using electronic
communications as a method to bully. Bullying
through this method can be done in chat rooms,
instant messages and even through email. This is
sort of a public type of bullying where you are
publicly bullied online. Flaming refers to the
arguments which are supplemented with certain
images to drive annoyance and harsh language
toward someone.
Exclusion is the type of bullying that occurs
whenever someone is singled out then
excluded from an online group. This group in
turn will then do whatever they can online to
taunt the excluded person through rude text
messages and emails.
Outing on the other hand occurs when
individuals shares unique yet private
information that uses mobile phone or online
communication methods. This person will
then be outed once his private information
has been shared publicly through the
Internet.
Masquerading is also a very common type of
cyber bullying that is more of a sophisticated
type of cyber bullying where the individual
creates fakes identities to harass another
person unanimously while at the same time
hiding their identity. Masquerading will even
include attempts to seriously steal log-in
information to them use the information with
harassing other people without having to
show their identity.
Fourteen year old Justine never imagined that she
would become a victim of cyber bullying. Justine was
no stranger to personal challenges, but her experience
with cyber bullying was really something she was not
prepared for. Justine had spent months battling
cancer, and after she was told that her cancer was in
remission, she felt certain that her struggles were
behind her. That was until she began to receive
threatening email messages from a mysterious cyber
bully. The threatening messages continued and
continued until Justines in box held ninety messages.
The messages ranged from merely rude to downright
frightening
. Once the messages escalated into things like,
Im going to rape you, Justines parents
decided to take the issue to the police. The
police were quickly able to trace the messages
back to Justines classmate and surprisingly best
friend. The courts required the cyber bully to
attend counselling sessions and to write Justine
a formal letter of apology. Though, Justines
family felt that this punishment was likely too
lenient, they were glad that their action did
result in a positive outcome.
Under RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of
2012) cyberbullying can be related to its
provision on libel found in Section 4 letter c
number 4 which is defined by Art. 353 of revised
penal code as: A libel is public and malicious
imputation of a crime, or of a vice or defect, real or
imaginary, or any act, omission, condition, status, or
circumstance tending to cause the dishonor, discredit,
or contempt of a natural or juridical person, or to
blacken the memory of one who is dead.
And under art 355 of the Revised Penal Code
libel is punishable by: A libel committed by means of
writing, printing, lithography, engraving, radio,
phonograph, painting, theatrical exhibition,
cinematographic exhibition, or any similar means, shall be
punished by prision correccional(6 months and 1 day to 6
years) in its minimum and medium periods or a fine
ranging from 200 to 6,000 pesos, or both, in addition to
the civil action which may be brought by the offended
party.
Our laws has developed some strategies to
catch this cyberbullies however the best thing
to do in order to prevent such act is to report
it to the proper authorities. In schools when
one of your classmates is cyberbullying your
other classmate, reporting it to your teacher
or your principal will help a lot.
The cyberbullies in schools are also sometimes
the victims, they might be bullied also by their
friends, siblings, and even parents so in this
stage when these bullies are caught the school
should at least try to reform the student by
counseling however some acts by these bullies
are so extreme that it affects not only the social
life of the victim but also his emotions, that
suicide can be the result then there are penalties
under the law that can be imposed to these
types of bullies

Think before you click
Sometimes are own posts are the reason why these
bullies bully us so in order to stop them we must
watch our own post the we upload on the internet
Ignore
We at times are so emotional that we immediately
defend ourselves from cyberbullies but this is actually
the first mistake that we do, if we ignore them they
will ran out of things to say and eventually stop
