Story of two shoe salesmen - it's all
about perspective

Two shoe salespeople were sent to a region in Africa to
open up new markets.

Three days after arriving, one salesperson called the office
and said,
"I'm returning on the next flight. Can't sell shoes here.
Everybody goes barefoot."

At the same time the other salesperson sent an email to
the factory, telling
"The prospects are unlimited. Nobody wears shoes here!


We use the word Marketing to
describe such things as
Analyzing the needs of the people
Trying to guess what types of products
they want
Estimate how much they will buy
Predict when they will want to buy
Determine where they go to buy the stuff

Figure out the best price to sell it at - and
. can you still make a profit selling it at
that price
Decide on promotional things to create
awareness about the product
Look at the competition to see what they
are doing with pricing, features etc.

Marketing is the process of planning and executing the
conception, pricing, promotion, and distribution of ideas,
goods, services to create exchanges that satisfy
individual and organizational goals

for managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the

Exchange
The act of obtaining a desired object from someone

Transaction

purpose of achieving organizational objectives.

temporarily or permanently the aim is not to

A written document that acts as a guidebook of

What must be done to satisfy these wants or

* The PRODUCTION CONCEPT holds that
consumers will prefer products that are widely
available and inexpensive.

* The PRODUCT CONCEPT holds that consumers
will favor those products that offer the most
quality, performance, or innovative features.

* The SELLING CONCEPT holds that consumers
and businesses, will ordinarily not buy enough
of the organizations products. The
organization must therefore, undertake an
aggressive selling and promotion effort.

* The MARKETING CONCEPT holds that the key
to achieving its organizational goals consists of
the company being more effective than
competitors in creating, delivering, and
communicating customer value to its chosen
target markets.
