Architects philosophy
The industrial park will host over 20,000 workers around
magnificent artificial lakes. The high temperatures of Chennai will be
mitigated by the existence of the artificial stream that links the lakes.
Both the presence of water and canopies along the road on the
stream bank, where the commercial area will be located, will provide
freshness.
The road links the two lakes and is covered with a majestic canopy
that allows the breeze flow while stopping the sun rays.
Emblematic and modern and yet extremely respectful since it has
water treatment, water recycle, maximization of natural ventilation
and minimization of fossil combustibles. Around 300 of the workers
will be guests and therefore the park offers entertainment, a theatre,
a club house, and gym.
The design will cover architecture, urbanism, interior design and
equipment. The workers will enjoy open spaces and views so as to
develop his creativity and imagination. It will undoubtedly become a
company emblem, and furthermore a space to develop fellowship
and dialogue between workers in order to obtain best results.

THE BUTTERFLY CONCEPT
4 entry/exit ways:
- Employees
- Visitors
- Services
6 ENGINEERING BLOCKS are arranged
around a central spine, which is 320m
long and 42 m high. The central spine is
bordered by the 3 storied general
services block.With water bodies, palm
trees and, landscaping, this spine is
designed as an area for relaxation. One
end of this axis terminates in the 136m
high tower.

LAYOUT OF BLOCKS
AROUND CENTRAL SPINE

Each block is like a module,
with two wings branching
off a central service core.

BLOCK
PLANNING

Each block consists
of two cores
organized around a
central circular
admin space.
Each core consists of
4 elevators, an
internal staircase
and the toilets.
The north wing and
south wing of each
block are accessed
by bridges leading
off from these cores.
Each employee is
allocated a
workstation of
100sq.ft area in
contrast to the
standard 80 sq.ft
The idea of
having a curved
form and
planning system
was to
channelise the
winds from the
sea.
The external
corridor along
either side of
each wing
allows for
naturally
ventilated yet
shaded
corridors.
These also
double up as
escape routes
and make
cleaning easier.

External fire staircases
Structural steel roof
Solar control glass
AlCO panels
STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS
The formation of the entire structure is by means of 3
dimensional curves., which are symmetrical about the axes.
MAIN PORTALS
Main portals are formed by intersecting gothic arches. They are the
main supporting elements of the central spine in the vertical
direction.

WINGS
To reduce the span of purlins a truss system known as middle
wings which are quite similar to the top part of main portals, are
introduced in between the 2 portals

LATTICE GIRDER & SPINE TAIL
The steel tubes are roughly
250-400mm in diameter.
Overall structural steel
consumption is around 3000
Tons with a roof sheeting area
of around 25,000 square
meters.
Energy Efficiency
Intelligently-designed, eco- friendly developed, this innovative
design demonstrates environment-friendly processes, techniques
and systems to meet the requisites for energy-efficient buildings,
ISO 14001 certifications, zero waist disposals, carbon footprint
offset, etc.
The complex is notable for its microclimate performance based
on an open atrium office buildings, providing a naturally-
ventilated system. An ecological stream beneath a large
overhanging canopy of 320m provides a natural cooling system.
The buildings use solar control glass- made of coated glass with
advanced energy efficient solar control and thermal insulation,
enabling the reduction of external heat and radiation, resulting
in reduction of cost for external cooling as well as eliminating
the need for artificial lighting.
The campus also has its own complete waste water management
system.
The buildings also have sensors, which automatically shut off the
lighting systems when not in use.
