Responsibility?

It generally refers to transparent business practices


that are based on ethical values, compliance with
legal requirements, and respect for people,
communities, and the environment.
Thus, beyond making profits, companies are

responsible for the totality of their impact on


people and the planet.
CSR is alternatively referred to as
“Corporate Citizenship,” which essentially
means that a company should be a “good
neighbor” within its host community.
Why do companies decide to
get involved in CSR?

In order to stay productive, competitive, and
relevant in a rapidly changing business world,
companies have to become socially responsible.

Introduction to Samsung
Group
The Samsung Group is South Korea's largest company leading
several industries in the world.
It is composed of numerous international businesses, all united

under the Samsung brand, including Samsung Electronics, the


world's largest electronics company, Samsung Heavy Industries,
one of the world's largest shipbuildersand
Samsung Engineering & Construction, a major global
construction company.
These three multinationals form the core of Samsung Group and

reflect its name - the meaning of the Korean word Samsung is


“Tristar" or “Three stars".

range of areas that touch people's lives,
including social welfare, culture and arts,
volunteer services, academics and education,
environmental protection, and international
exchanges.

Samsung Canine Center for
Companionship (SCCC)
Samsung operates a kennel facility where dogs

are carefully bred and then adopted by


specially selected Samsung employees
SCCC is home to many smaller breeds.



Samsung Assistance Dog Services
and Samsung Guide Dog School
for the Blind

 Samsung's Assistance Dog centre trains dogs


that provide assistance to people with hearing
impairments and those undergoing therapy.

 Also operates and finances Korea's first Guide


Dog School for the Blind.

Environmental Initiatives
 SAMSUNG Recycling Direct[SM]

 It makes easy to dispose of old electronics in a convenient and


responsible way.

 It affords consumers a number of smart ways to help make the


world a better, cleaner place.

 It partnered directly with respected take-back and recycling


companies.


Goal is to improve the quality of life for children
and families across the nation who face major
challenges.
Samsung’s Four Seasons of Hope have raised and
provided more than $20 million to schools and
the charities.

Initiatives


Hope for Education was created by Samsung in
2004 to support U.S. schools with the latest
technology products to assist in the educational
process.
