Robotics

Be Young Scientist
Objectives
What is Robotics?
Why Robotics?
Future with robotics
Examples
What is Robotics???
Its a branch of technology that deals with design, construction, operation
and application of robots

Its a system that contains sensors, control systems, manipulators, power
supplies, and software all working together to perform a task

Why Robotics???
Robotics inspires students to make connections across several disciplines rather
than learning topics in isolation as it combines mechanical, electronic, electrical
and programming skills.
Students are motivated to learn by creating their own robotic devices, while at the
same time gain a deeper understanding of interdisciplinary fields of study.
In addition, robotics appeals to a broad range of students and allows multiple
points of access to science and technology for a variety of learners
Robotics is already playing a very pivotal and cutting edge role in diverse sectors
such as manufacturing, avionics, medicine, defense, automobile, and
entertainment to name a few
As technology becomes increasingly important in today's world, it is invaluable to
not only learn how to use technology, but also to understand how to create it.
Technology is the future and today's kids are tomorrow's technologists. Give your
students the robotics experience of learning.
Benefits With Robotics
Teaches through discovery i.e. Cause and effect
learning
Numeracy Competence with numbers and measures
Gives visual grasp of math and science
Builds logical thinking
Brings out innovation and creativity
Enhances problem solving skills
Develops teamwork
Helps in absorbing future technologies with ease
Self-Management
Robotics as a Career option in India
In Robotics, there is plenty of scope for
students from E&C, E&E, Mechanical, CS, IT,
Instrumentation, Mathematics and Computing
and even Physics, and according to your
branch of study and your interests, you can
chose your area of specialization in Robotics
Biomedical Robotics is another field that is
catching up really fast, after industrial robotics

You don't have to make a tall walking robot for being in
Robotics, as it can be anything from a software to
embedded systems and can even be the physics engine
that helps it interact with surroundings
Some essential points for building career in robotics
are:
Clear basics in electronics and electrical theory
Sound knowledge of microprocessors and
microcontrollers
Programming skills.
Reasoning and explanatory skills.
Basic knowledge of mechanics.
Tech savvy
And above all dedication and love for the subject

Some Achievements
Rohan Agarwal
An Indian American prodigy is taking
Silicon Valley by storm.
Made a robot in a day from spare parts

Easton LaChapelle
At only 17, Easton LaChapelle has built a robotic
prosthetic arm which is set to change the face of
modern prosthetics

Jakes Swirlesque
Imagine if you could turn on a light or play a DVD with the
wave of your hand. Jake Coppingers Swirlesque glove lets
you do just that.
It detects hand gestures, allowing us to control a range of
devices like smartphones, computers, televisions and light
bulbs with the simple flick of a wrist.
