INTRODUCTION TO QS 9000
The Quality system Requirements QS 9000
is an international quality managament
system standard for automotive industry
developed by a joint effort of Big Three
automakers,General Motors,chrysler and
Ford.It was introduced to the industry in
1994.


QS 9000 standard is divided into
three sections.

First section is ISO 9001 plus
some automative requirements.

Second section is Additional
Requirements.

Third section is Customer
Specific Section which contains
system requirements that are
unique to each automotive.

The objective of QS 9000 is to develop
fundamental quality systems based on
continuous improvement,direct
prevention,reduction of variation and waste
elimination in the automobiles supply
chain.

The QS 9000 quality standard must be
complied to by suppliers of automotive
production materials,production and
service parts,heat treatment,painting and
other finishing requirement
The core activity requirements of the QS
9000 include the following:

1. Quality system Assessment
2. Advanced Product Quality Planning and
Control Plan
3. Production Part Approval Process
4. Potential Failure Modes and Effects
Analysis
5. Measurement systems Analysis
