Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul
Kalam born on 15th October 1931 at
Rameswaram, in Tamil Nadu.
Was the son of Jainulabdeen
Marakayar and Ashiamma
Jainulabdeen.
He received secondary education at
the Schwartz School, a missionary
institute in Ramanathapuram.

On 10 june,2002. the
National Democratic
Alliance expressed to
Sonia Gandhi that they
would propose Kalam for
the post of president . On
18 June, Kalam filled his
nomination papers in
the parliament of India.

Kalam is credited with the view that India ought to take
a more assertive stance in international relations. he
regards his work on India's nuclear weapons program as
a way to assert India's place as a future superpower.
His book "India 2020" strongly advocates an action
plan to develop India into a knowledge superpower and
into a developed nation by the year 2020.
During his term as President, he was popularly known
as the People's President.
