thereby brought forth fruits as provision for you; and

they may sail through the sea by His Command; and
He has made rivers {also} to be of service to you.”

• Allah is the Creator and Controller of the entire
universe
• There is nothing which bears any likeness to Him
• He does not stand in need of anything at all
• He possesses all the perfect qualities, and man
should worship Him, and Him alone
ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE OF
CREATION
• The universe is not considered an illusion in
any way
• Muhammad did not produce miracles but
simply proclaimed the message of Allah
• The presence of God in the world is seen not
through supernatural signs
• The presence of God in the world is seen
through wonderful order of nature and the
one great miracle, the Quran

Creation is a means by which Allah manifests

His attributes, so that human beings can then
correctly recognize God and accept His
decree and their destiny
PURPOSE BEHIND CREATION

• An animal sent to this world after having been

trained in another and perfected in all its
faculties.
• Man is born with no knowledge of life and his
environment and with a need to learn
everything
• Man has come to this life to seek perfection
through knowledge and prayer
• Everything by its nature is essentially
dependent on knowledge and light and spirit
of all true knowledge are knowledge of God
• God sends us to be tested by Him, so that we
can improve our abilities and skills through the
responsibilities He ordains for us.
PURPOSE IN THE LIGHT OF
QURAN
• The purpose of the creation of man in 'Ibada
I created the jinn and humankind only that they
might worship Me. (51:56)

• The purpose of 'Ibada is Taqwa

O mankind! worship your Lord, Who hath
created you and those before you, so that ye
may ward off (evil). (2:21)
PURPOSE IN THE LIGHT OF
QURAN
• The purpose of Taqwa is Falah

َ‫س ٱ ۡلِبّر ِبَأن َت ۡأُتوْا ٱ ۡلُبُيوت‬

َ ‫ۖ َوَل ۡي‬
‫ح ‌ّۗج‬

They ask thee, (O Muhammad), of new moons, say: They are
fixed seasons for mankind and for the pilgrimage. It is not
righteousness that ye go to houses by the backs thereof
(as do the idolaters at certain seasons), but the righteous
man is he who wardeth off (evil). So go to houses by the
gates thereof, and observe your duty to Allah, that ye
may be successful. (2:189)
• According to the above three points the ultimate purpose
of man's creation is Falah.
• The purpose of creation of the whole universe is,
therefore, to be beneficial and subservient to mankind
• If the purpose of all creation is to serve mankind, then
what is the purpose of man’s creation?

"Indeed, the creation of the heavens and the earth is

greater than the creation of mankind, but most of
mankind does not realize it."( 40: 57)
• The composition of human beings is far less complex
than the composition of the universe in which they
exist
• However, very few people reflect on this reality
Nature of Human
Being
“Every child is created in the state of fitrah it is the
parents, culture, and society that make him a
Christian, a Jew, or a fire-worshipper.”
Holy Prophet (PBUH)
• According to Islam, the human being is born in
the state of fitrah, the original inherent nature of
the human being
• The baby is totally innocent and is not
responsible for the sin of his parents or any of
his ancestors
• According to Islam, man is potentially capable of
rising higher than the angel
• But, at the same time, he is equally capable of
sinking lower than the animals
• The Qur’an explains another weakness in
human nature which impedes self
development, is the weakness of will
“And, indeed, long ago We made Our covenant
with Adam; but he forgot and We found no
firmness of purpose in him.” ( 20:115)
• Today it has been established, scientifically
as well as philosophically that there does not
exist an evil human being; there exist only
sick human being
• The Holy Qur’an considers the hypocrites as
sick persons saying
“There is a sickness in their hearts.” ( 2:10 )
THE COMPONENTS OF HUMAN
NATURE
• While speaking about the nature of man,
Qur’an uses words
• Nafs
• Ruh
• Qalb
• Soul (nafs), in its downward or corporeal
tendency, is attached to the body and in its
upward or spiritual tendency, is attached to
the spirit (al-ruh)
Nafs
• The term Nafs has different uses in the Holy Qur’an
• most cases, it means the human being in reality
“And whoso disputeth with thee concerning him, after the
knowledge which hath come unto thee, say (unto him):
Come! We will summon our sons and your sons, and
our women and your women, and ourselves and
yourselves, then we will pray humbly (to our Lord) and
(solemnly) invoke the curse of Allah upon those who
lie.” (3: 61)
• It also means the human soul
“We verily created man and We know what his soul
whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his
jugular vein.” (50:16)
Ruh
• The ruh spans the entire spectrum of existence
• The seen as well as the unseen
• In some situations ruh highlights the qualities of
greedy or unjust within the nafs
• Nafs only exists because of the ruh which energizes it
• According to Muslim scholars, Ruh is the reflection of
the Divine presence in man
“When I have made him and have breathed into him of
My spirit, (I ordered the angles to) bow down,
prostrating yourself before him.” (15:29)
“And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him
of My Spirit, then fall down before him prostrate,”
(38:72)
Qalb
• The qalb (heart) is an immaterial spiritual
entity which has got connection with the
material heart
• The qalb has the capacities to acquire
comprehensive intuition
• The Qur’an considers al-Qalb as the seat of
wisdom and intellect
“Do they not travel trough the land, so that
their hearts may learn wisdom and their ears
may learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes,
rather it is their hearts which are in their
chests are blind.” ( 22:46 )
Importance of Human
Being
• When Allah created animals, he blessed them with
desire but no reasoning (âql).
• When He subhanahu wa taala created Mala'ika
(Angels), he blessed them with reasoning but no
desire
• Whereas creating the human being, He bestowed
him with reasoning and desire
• Before the beginning of dunya, Allah called upon all
the souls of humans in Älam Al-arwah (World of
souls)
• Then Allah said, I'm sending all of you in dunya,
where there will be an exam for you
• I want that all of you be gone through this exam
and return to Me so I could reward you
• There will be two enemies for you to misguide you from
the straight path
• One is your own nafss (will), the other one is Shaytan
(devil)
• There will be guidance for you from time to time; these
are my books and my messengers
• Allah Almighty decided to create Adam, He made his
effigy in clay and commanded all His Angels, Jins and all
that was present to bow their heads before the effigy of
Adam
• The true spirit or essence of the command was to
impregnate the fact to all present that what was being
created was superior to His other creations
• Iblis had become proud and arrogant because of his
veneration and refused to submit to the command of
Allah.
Conclusion
• Allah struck off all that Iblis
• The devil claimed that he would now mislead
and allure the mankind
• Allah in his wisdom created man with both
good and bad traits so that man can prove
his superiority by fighting iblis.
• It is for the man to decide whether he wants
to associate himself with the devil or wants to
be elevated to the ranks of the superior most
of being)
