*Facilities and equipment

-Compounding area will be a limited-access area.
-Unauthorized work of any kind in the compounding area is strictly
forbidden.
-Know the location of the fire extinguishers in the pharmacy
-The pharmacy will be clean, well-lighted, and of sufficient size -For
hand washing, a sink with hot and cold running water will be in close
proximity to the compounding area.
-Refrigeration, freezing, ventilation, and room temperature control
capabilities
-Mopping, cleaning of storage shelving/refrigerators, antimicrobial
testing results and temperature of storage area and refrigerators are
readily available.

*Storage and Handling of Sterile Products

-Solutions, drugs, supplies and equipment used to prepare or
administer sterile products will be stored in accordance with
manufacturer or USP requirements.
-Temperature in refrigerators and freezers will be monitored
and documented daily.
-Finished sterile preparations stored in refrigerators outside the
pharmacy will be monitored
-Pharmacy storage area will be monitored
-Products that have exceeded their expiration dates will be
removed from active storage areas

*Personnel Cleansing and Garbing

-Appropriate uniform is required for anyone
-The wearing of artificial nails or extenders is
prohibited while working in the sterile compounding
environment.
-Coats, purses and other personal items should be
stored in lockers or the employee lounge area;
personal items are not to be stored in the
anteroom/area
*Hygiene and Sanitation

-Storage facilities with quarantining of incoming
herbal matter to prevent the spread of microorganisms.
-Maintenance of segregated areas for different
materials and of appropriate environmental conditions.
-Production areas controlled for dust, fumes and
vapors generated by the processing of these substances.
-Cleanliness of equipment to avoid microbiological
contamination
