Profesor:

Types of pollution:
There are five types of pollution that are

going to be discussed in this presentation:

1)Air pollution
2)Water pollution
3)Land pollution
4)Noise pollution
5)Radioactive pollution

Different types of pollution

Air pollution:
-Global warming,
-Acid rain,
-Smog,
-Ozone depletion
Major sources of Air pollution:
-Motor vehicle exhaust
-Solid waste disposal
-Industrial processes
-Extraction of metals
-Fuel production

Example of Air pollution:

Water pollution:
Water pollution covers pollution in liquid forms like ocean

pollution and river pollution. As the term suggests, liquid

pollution occurs in the oceans, lakes, streams, rivers, underground
water.
It involves the release of toxic substances, pathogenic germs,
substances that require much oxygen to decompose, easy-soluble..
substances, radioactivity.

We can classify major sources that lead to

water pollution:

Petroleum products
Synthetic agricultural chemicals

Heavy metals
Thermal pollution

Soil pollution

Example of water pollution

Land pollution:
Land pollution involves the following
mechanism:
Deposition of solid waste
Accumulation of non-biodegradable materials
Toxification of chemicals into poisons
Losses caused by land pollution:
loss of 6 million hectares of land per year
loss of 24 billion tons of topsoil per year

We can classify major sources that lead to land

pollution:

Agriculture

Mining and quarrying

Sewage sludge

Household chemicals
Demolitions and constructions

Industrial

Example of land pollution

Noise pollution:
This kind pollution is ever increasing due to

the use of heavy machinery in industrial

facilities and vehicles.We make sounds
practically every second of our day.
Noise levels can be measured by decibel
method:
Noise limit is 65dB.

These are a few examples of noises made

in dB:

Radioactive Pollution:
Nuclear energy has already been researched since 1900.
Nuclear era reached its greatest peak in World War II, by

showing its massive ability of destroying things.

Nuclear energy is a form of energy thats released by the
splitting of atoms. Since scientists have found a way to make
use of this type of energy, it has also been used to generate
electricity.

There are commonly three types of

radiation:
Alpha particles, can be blocked by a piece of paper and human

skin.
Beta particles can penetrate the skin, while they can be blocked by
some piece of glass or metal.
Gamma rays can penetrate human skin easily and damage cells on
their way through. They can only be blocked by a very thick,
strong, massive piece of concrete.
Sources and Methods:
Nuclear power plants
Nuclear weapons
Transportation
Disposal of nuclear waste
Uranium mining
