QUALITY OF LIFE

Quality of life (QOL) is the general well-being of individuals and


societies.
Quality of life refers to a persons appreciation of his or her life as
a whole.
The word appreciation is used to refer to the degree to which a
person is satisfied or happy with life as a whole (Veenhoven,
2000).

QUALITY
OF
LIFE
It is a highly subjective measure of happiness that is an
important component of many financial decisions.
Factors that play a role in quality of life vary according to
personal preferences, but they often include financial security,
job satisfaction, family life, health and safety.

Financial decisions usually involve a tradeoff where quality of life


is decreased in order to save money or, conversely, quality of life
is increased by spending more money.

QUALITY OF LIFE
QOL reflects the difference, the gap, between the hopes and
expectations of a person and their present experience.
QOL is the individuals satisfaction or happiness with life in his or her
domain

It includes the basic aspects of who one is


It has 3 sub domains:

1. Physical Being
2. Psychological Being
3. Spiritual Being

It includes the persons fit with his environment


It has 3 sub domains:

1. Physical Belonging : Home, workplace, etc


2. Social Belonging : Acceptance by family, friends, etc
3. Community Belonging : Access to resources available to
community, as health, employment, education, etc

BECOMING DOMAIN OF QUALITY OF LIFE

It refers to the purposeful activities carried out to achieve personal goals,


hopes and wishes and has three subdomains:
It has 3 sub domains:
1.

Practical Becoming : Describes day to day actions such as domestic


activities, paid work, school,etc

Leisure Becoming : Includes activities that promote relaxation and stress


reduction. Eg: Cards, games, walks, vacation, etc

Growth Becoming : Activities that promote the improvement or

maintenance of knowledge or skills

QWL can be defined as:
The Quality of relationship between employees and the Total Working
Environment
QWL represents a concern for the human dimensions of work.
QWL is the degree to which members of a work organization are able to
satisfy their personal needs through their experience in the Organization.
It focusses on the environment where employees work cooperatively and
contribute to Organizational Problems
