This alignment is proposed on the existing alignment with minor changes in


the existing curves and with following realignments:
Realignment from ch.740 to ch.1080 (to avoid the serpentine stretch) and
After Ch. 1870 of project road
The total length of the Proposal is 2045 m

This alignment starts at the Kaliamman koil Street-Project Road junction and
follows the existing alignment upto Chainage 1170 and then passes through open
land along the Metro Depot and finally meets the Poonamalle High Road.
The total length of the proposal is about 1770 m

This alignment takes off from Kaliamman koil Street-market Road Junction and
follows the Market Road upto chainage 1375 and then realigns at the project road
upto chainage 1870 and the follows the Alternative 1A upto Poonamalle. Steep
curves and serpentine stretch have been avoided.

and then follows alternative 1B as it passes through open land along the Metro

1. In this proposal 4-lane elevated corridor takes off from Kaliamman


koil Street-market Road Junction and then follows alternative 2B as it
passes through open land along the Metro Depot and finally meets
at Poonamalle.
2. Total estimated cost of construction for 4-lane flyover is Rs.
1,72,39,58,544.
3. The total length of the alignment is 1753m

Points to be addressed as per Minutes of Meeting


1. The consultants were requested to study both at-grade and
elevated proposal for the selected option.
2. The consultants were requested to segregate the area details of
land acquisition and structures to be affected due to L.A.
3. The consultant was requested to study the proposal of Highways
Department in the Kalliamman Street in conjunction with the

proposed proposal.

Points 1: At-grade vs Elevated proposal


The alignment passes through boundary of church and if we go at

grade it will require larger area at ground and demolition of


structures in the church area will become unavoidable. Whereas if
we go elevated, demolition may be avoided by options various pier

position.
The alignment passes through the built up area and hence at grade
may increase the demolition which may be avoided in case of
elevated proposal.

Proposal though being highest on cost requires least land acquisition


and solves the problem of traffic congestion to the maximum
Based on economic benefits in terms of savings in VOC and savings in
travel time cost for passenger and goods vehicles of all the alternatives
Proposal 5 is recommendate.
An economic internal rate of return of 27.17% (more than 12% of
discounted rate) and positive value of INR 19,777.30 Lacs as NPV of
net benefits indicates the economic viability of project road for the
proposed improvement of proposal 5 i.e. 4 lane elevated corridor.
