PROJECT LTA (LAPKA TO APKA)

BACKGROUND

Agra ,a city of Taj Mahal, is the most popular tourist destination in India
Attracts over 3 million visitors per year.

During 2012, the Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) from tourism

registered a growth of 21.8% from Rs.77,591 to Rs. 94,487 crore
(provisional) when compared to FEEs during 2011.

But According to Federation of Travel Association of Agra , the number

of tourists coming to Agra has been falling, and many are not interested
in buying things from here.

WHY ??? Many tourists, both Indian and foreign, who arrive in Agra to
see the Taj Mahal, go back home feeling cheated, threatened and abused.

Reasons:

Lack of appropriate accommodation facilities, and

lack of security measures
Touts, guides, auto and taxi drivers, besides hotel
owners pounce on every opportunity so that they can
extract some money.
Local Behavior.
Another reason is high service tax.

LAPKA

Touts , large number of porters, auto

and cab drivers, and guides not letting any
chance to fleece tourists on the name of
providing 'cheap service'. Locally known as
'lapka' (opportunist), they have long been a sore
point for the city's image.

WHAT IS LTA
