INTERVIEW
It involves a one to
one interaction of the
candidates with the
prospective employer.
Giving the interviewer
a chance to evaluate
your strength and
skill, it also gives you
an
opportunity
to
understand what to
expect
from
the
organization.

PREPARATION FOR THE


INTERVIEW
Keep yourself calm.
Know all about the
company, its business.
Analyze why you want the
job.
What soft skills do you have
to offer the organization?
Prepare questions you wish
to ask about the job or
organization.
Line up reference in
advance in case you are
asked for them.

At the
Interview

Shake hands with the interviewer firmly.


Appear confident.
Remember the names of the interviewers.
Make eye contact when you talk to people
and be natural.
Answer
questions
honestly.
If
you
mentioned something on your resume,
make sure you know about it. If you dont
know much, mention that you have not
worked too much detail in the area.

Ask the interviewers about the company.
You are usually given time for this.
Thank the interviewers after the interview.
If you have been interviewing at other
companies, it is not unfair to ask when you
can expect them to make a decision.

Be well groomed
Reach the interview
venue well before
the scheduled time.

helps
to
familiarize
yourself

the

smile at the interviewers.

Listen carefully to what the
interviewers are saying or asking.

Think over your answer (If necessary,
ask for clarification, politely).
Answer in simple and short sentences.
Be clear in your expressions, focused on
your thoughts.
Dont speak fast.(It is better to speak
slowly than fast for better

While answering, dont think about your


language, concentrate on the contents of your
answer.
If you do not know the answer, politely say that
you do not know the answer, and ask for the
next question.
Be sure that your answers are truthful, sincere
and positive.
End your interview courteously. Say

Dont get puzzled or nervous during
the interview.
Dont try to memorize an answer
Dont be a late-comer at the
interview venue
Dont get influenced by the out-going
candidates
Dont argue with the interviewers

Your Project and summary work reports,
neatly in a file

Give a brief introduction about yourself
Give a brief summary of your
experience in your latest positions (if
fresher, explain about your project)
Connect your ability to the employers
requirements
Dont make up the information.
Keep information brief and relevant.

What are your biggest


strengths?

Identify which you are good at. (Knowledge,


Experience, Skills, Abilities)
Prepare a list of your strong points
Review the recruitment requirements
Strong points that the employer may
concern about great communication skills,
ability to adapt to the change in company
culture, ability to solve problems flexibility,
hard working, ability to learn from failure,
group work spirit.

What are your career goals?


(To test your ability and ambition)

You can state some of your goals (Eg.


Become specialist in the sector....)
Check,

Are those goals suitable to


the job you are currently
applying for?
Are those goals helpful to
your job?

What is your greatest


weakness?
Dont try to avoid answering this
question.
Never mentioning a weakness that
relates to a crucial requirement of the
job.
Dont try to make up a weakness.
Dont say you have no weakness. No
one is perfect; therefore, you shouldnt
say you have no weakness.

Why do you want to work


here?

You need to know about the company


you are willing to work for and read their
job description.
You can answer that
Working for XXX will be a challenging
and beneficial experience to me.
I have heard that XXX is currently
the company with the best training
and development policy. This is really
a good chance for me to develop my
career.

Are you applying for other


jobs?

Be honest but do not spend a lot of


time in this area.
Keep the focus on this job and what
you can do for this organization.

Of course, I am looking for


the best place to apply my
abilities, and so far this place
looks excellent.

What kind of salary are you


looking for?
Dont answer directly, Instead say
something like,
Can you tell me the range for this
position?
Sir/Madam,
salary
is
very
secondary. What matters is you are
providing me with the kind of work
I have always wanted to do and
the kind of work environment too.

Are you a team player?


This is an open-ended question
You can answer YES and also you may
talk about your teamwork skills.

I have worked in teams and


independently as well. Some jobs
match and require a teamwork
effort while others fit an individual
work. Project is completed in a
timely and efficient manner.

Explain how you would be


an asset to this
organization?

This gives you a chance to highlight your


best points as they relate to the position
being discussed.

Do you have any blind spot?


Do not reveal any personal areas of
concern here.
Dont be too specific of your actual
weakness
I would say, everyone has blind spots
and I would too. And that is why, I
believe in teamwork because when you
are a team you can point out other
peoples blind spots and they will do
the same for me.
