Tears of the Arizona


Black tears
On December 6, 1941, the USS Arizona took on a
full load of fuelnearly 1.5 million gallons
The explosion of the USS Arizona
burned for two days
sank to the bottom
cloud of black smoke by burning black powder from
the magazine

some 500,000 gallons are still slowly seeping out


Nearly 70 years after its demise - continues to
spill up to 9 quarts of oil into the harbor each day

On August 6, 1945, Paul W. Tibbets and his crew dropped the Uraniumbased Atomic bomb on Hiroshima
The bomb was code named Little Boy.
