Before the surgery begins, the role of


nurses perform the initial preoperative
assessment, counseling plan with methods
appropriate to the needs of the patient,
family or significant others involved in
the
interview,
ensure
complete
preoperative examination, assessing client
needs in order to postoperative care.

Assessment
Before the operation carried out assessments
collected regarding medical history, physical
examination performed, vital signs are recorded
and enforced baseline data for future comparisons.
Diagnostic tests may be performed such as blood
analysis, endoscopy, x-rays, endoscopy, tissue
biopsy, and examination of feces and urine.

In addition to general physical assessment needs to be


examined various organ functions such as assessment
of respiratory status, liver and kidney function,
endocrine function, and immunological functions.
Preoperative nutritional status of the client needs to

the client. Similarly, the condition of obesity, obese
clients will receive postoperative problems due to a
thick layer of fat will increase the risk of wound
infection, also the engineering and mechanical
difficulties during and after surgery.

Informed Consent
The nurse's responsibility in relation to
informed consent is to ensure that the informed
consent that is given in the doctors can
voluntarily from a client, previously given clear
and straightforward explanation of the surgery
and the possible risks.

Patient Education Pre surgery


Preoperative counseling is defined as an
educational
and
supportive
measures

improving their own health before and after

In providing preoperative counseling
