Who is Anna Hazare?

Kisan Baburao Hazare popularly known

as Anna Hazare is an Indian social
activist.
He is an ex-army man who worked as a
driver in 1965 Indo- Pak war .
He was born on 15 January1940(Age71
)
He belongs to a poor family but has
great achievements to his honour.

FELICITATIONS

2011 Rabindranath Tagore International Peace Prize, awarded by the

Indian Institute of Planning and Management.[56]

2008 On 15 April 2008 Hazare received the World Bank's 2008 Jit Gill
Memorial Award for Outstanding Public Service: "Hazare created a thriving
model village in Ralegaon Siddhi, in the impoverished Ahmednagar region of
Maharashtra state, and championed the right to information and the fight
against corruption."[57]

1992 Padma Bhushan award, by the Government of India

1990 Padma Shri award, by the Government of India

1989 Krishi Bhushana award by the Government of Maharashtra.

1986 Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra award by the Government of India on

19 November 1986 from the hands of Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi.

1996 - Shiromani Award.

Integrated village Development Project As a part of

Golden Jubilee celebration of Bharat Chhodo Andolan
Adarsh Gaon Yojna " was started under his
chairmanship - Model Village project

He built a village Ralegaon Siddhi in Ahamad Nagar

district, Maharashtra

This village is a self-sustained model village. Energy is

produced in the village itself from solar power, biofuel
and wind mills. In 1975, it used to be a poverty clad
village. Now it is one of the richest village in India. It
has become a model for self-sustained, eco-friendly &
harmonic village

He has been
involved in the
watershed
development which
is one of the key
tools contributing
towards the overall
objective of
reducing poverty
through sustainable
development.

ACT
Anna Hazare has been actively
involved in formulation and
implementation of RTI Act

RIGHT TO INFORMATION
Right to Information includes the citizens right to
inspect works, documents, and records.
take notes, extracts or certified copies of documents or records.
take certified samples of material.
obtain information in form of printouts, diskettes, floppies, tapes,
video cassettes or in any other electronic mode or through printouts.

The citizens can obtain the above from all government departments
to ensure transparency. All they need to do is to invoke the Right To
Information (RTI) Act. The state of Maharashtra leads in RTI activism
and use, thanks to Anna Hazares inspiring leadership

ANTI CORRUPTION DEVELOPMENT

The common man is put to lot of
hardships and it has become
difficult to make both ends meet
as prices of essential commodities
are rising constantly due to
corruption. Hazare believes that
our freedom is at the teeth of
danger due to corruption and
unless it is eliminated, the
country will not be free in its true
sense. Therefore, a peaceful war
has been waged against
corruption with the help of
immense support from people.

ANTI CORRUPTION ACTIVITIES

Anna Hazare is
supporting a cause, the
amendment of a law to
curb corruption in India.
He is advocating for a Bill,
The Lok Pal Bill (The
Citizen Ombudsman Bill),
that will form an
autonomous authority who
will make politicians
(ministers), beurocrats
(IAS/IPS) accountable for
their deeds.

Lokpal

Bill was first proposed in 1972 by then law minister Mr. Shanti Bhushan, but has
been suppressed by polititians for their selfish interest.

Anna

Hazare wants government to come forward and announce that the bill is going to be
passed.

He

wants government to form a joint committe to draft the lokpal bill with 50% government
participation and 50%public participation .

Lokpal will be appointed at the centre .He will have autonomous charge. At every state
lokayukta will be appointed.

The

job of this new committee will be to bring all alleged party to trial in case of corruption
within 1 year and within 2 years, guilty will be punished.
