ACER

Acer Inc. is a computer company that was founded in Taiwan

in 1976…
Many people in the Unites States have not heard of Acer, but Acer is
one of the largest computer manufactures in the world, in terms of
sales, it is second only to Hewlett Packard...

Acer was founded by Stan Shis and his wife with five other
people in 1976.
At the time it did not have the name Acer, it was known as
Multitech… The company renamed itself Acer in 1987…
Initially Acer was a very small company, with only eleven employees.
In the beginning Acer did not even deal with making computers or any of
the things it is internationally known for today, it started out as a
distributor of electronic parts…
Acer expanded into the laptop market shortly after it purchased Texas
Instruments laptop division in 1997. Acer began to grow larger and larger
as a result of its purchase of Texas Instruments Laptop division.

This purchase also helped Acer to expand into new areas of technology in
the desktops they made, which allowed them to incorporate some features of
laptops into their desktops. Some of these features were smaller screens
and a smaller size for the desktops overall.

DELL
Michael Dell, in 1984 founded Dell in order to directly serve their customers with
computers that meet their needs.

The company was called PC’s Limited and he was still a student at University of
Texas at the time. The following year, Dell came out with their very first computer
called the Turbo, which had an eight-megahertz processor.

The major goal was to produce personal computer systems that were IBM compatible
and were produced or entirely stock parts. The first Dell laptop made its debut in
1991 and by 1993, it became one of the top five computer companies in the world. By
1995, those $8.50 shares were worth $100. The progress of the business was rapid and
in 1997, Dell had shipped its ten millionth system.
In 1996, Dell began selling their products through their website and three years
later they took over Compaq
Jumping forward a bit, in 2003, Dell introduced their first Dell printers for the
public, including those intended for the average consumer and businesses. Dell
printers
are known for being versatile and easy to use, however a recent development has
brought skepticism to the company when Lexmark began working with them whom
modified their cartridges so that they don’t work with Dell printers.
However, Dell has a long track record with customer satisfaction, at the very least
in regards to their computer products.
Has great performance on playing computer
games.

FUJITS
U
The company was established in 1935 under the name Fuji Tsu-shinki Seizo, Fuji
Telecommunications Equipment Manufacturing), a spinoff of the Fuji Electric Company,
this in turn being a joint venture between the Furukawa Electric Company and German
conglomerate Siemens.
Despite its connections to the Furukawa zaibatsu, Fujitsu escaped the Allied
occupation of Japan mostly unscathed.
In 1954 Fujitsu manufactured Japan's first computer, the FACOM 100, and in 1961 the
transistorized FACOM 222. In 1967, the company's name was officially changed to the
contraction Fujitsu.
In 1955, Fujitsu founded Kawasaki Frontale as a Fujitsu soccer club. Kawasaki Frontale
has now been a J. League football club since 1999.
After 1981 Fujitsu gradually took over International Computers Ltd (ICL) , which was
renamed to Fujitsu Services Limited in 2002.
From February 1989 until the Summer of 1997 Fujitsu built the FM Towns PC variant.
It started as a proprietary PC variant intended for multimedia applications and
computer games, but later became more compatible with regular PCs.
In 1993, the FM Towns Marty was released, a gaming console compatible with the FM Towns
games. Amdahl became a wholly owned subsidiary of Fujitsu in 1997.

COMPAQ
Compaq Computer Corporation is an American personal computer company founded in
1982, and now a brand name of Hewlett-Packard. The company was formed by Rod
Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto former Texas Instruments senior managers.
The name "COMPAQ" was derived from "Compatibility and Quality", as at its
formation Compaq produced some of the first IBM PC compatible computers.
In its early years Compaq was in many respects what IBM's PC Group should have
been, and indeed, two of Compaq's key marketing executives, Jim D'Arezzo and
Sparky Sparks, had moved from there. In the early 1990s Compaq entered the retail
computer market with the Presario, and was one of the first manufacturers in the
mid-1990s to market a sub-$1000 PC. In order to maintain the prices it wanted,
Compaq became the first computer manufacturer to utilize CPUs from AMD and
Cyrix. In 1997, Compaq bought Tandem Computers, known for their Nonstop server
line. This acquisition instantly gave Compaq a presence in the higher end
business computing market. In 1998, Compaq acquired Digital Equipment
Corporation, the leading company in the previous generation of computing during
the 1970s and early 1980s. In 2001, Compaq engaged in a merger with Hewlett-
Packard. Numerous large HP shareholders, including William Hewlett, publicly
opposed the deal, which resulted in an impassioned public proxy battle between
those for and against the deal. In May 2007, HP in a press release announced a
new logo for their Compaq Division to be placed on the new model Compaq
Presarios.
In 2008, HP dropped the "Compaq" name from its "HP Compaq" business notebooks and
is now marketing them as the "HP EliteBook" and as of early 2009, the "HP
ProBook", leaving the Compaq name for HP's entry-level consumer platforms.
