MAIN RECEIVING STATION

This is a 220kV substation which receives power from

VSP SS of APTRANSCO and Captive Power Plant, TPP.
From here the power is distributed to various load block step

down substations such as LBSS-2, LBSS-3, LBSS-4 and

LBSS-6.
Also supply power to township through CPRS (Construction

Power Receiving Station) by stepping down from 220kV to

33kV and then 33kV to 11kV and further to 415V

Load Block Step down Substation 1(LBSS-1)

a set of 220KV double circuit lines

have been taken to LBSS-1 from

LBSS-5

Three 80MVA 220kV 3-winding

power transformers

The voltage is stepped down to 11kV

and 6.6 kV
The transformers are selected if one
is failed other two will meet the load
Avg load 55-60 Mw

Avg load 70-80MW

3(LBSS-3)
This 220kv substation step down voltage to

33kV,11kVand 6.6kV level

3 Transformers 220/11/11kV 80MVA

4(LBSS-4)
This 220kv substation step down voltage to

33kV,11kVand 6.6kV level

3 Transformers 220/11/11kV 80MVA
star/delta/delta
Avg load : 40MW

Load Block Step up Substation 5(LBSS5)

The LBSS-5 receives the power at 11 KV level from

TPP and is further steps up to 220 kV.

5 transformers in LBSS-5:
4 two winding transformers 11/220 kV star/delta
5th is 3 winding transformer of 11/11/220 kV
star/delta/delta.
under the control of TPP
but maintained by DNW.

Load Block Step down Substation

6(LBSS-6)
It receives power from Main Receiving Station

(MRS) through two 220 kV transmission lines

3 transformers of rating 220 kV /11/11 kV
star/delta/delta with a capacity of 63 MVA
Another 3 transformers of rating 220 kV /33 kV with
a capacity of 110 MVA

Load Block Step down Substation

7(LBSS-7)
It receives power from LBSS-6 through 11 kV cables and
GSB-4. It consists of four transformers of rating 33 kV /11
kV with a capacity of 40 MVA. The main loads that are
connected to it are BF3, SMS-2, Mills pump house etc.

Load Block Distribution Substation

(LBDS)
Electric power at 11/6.6 KV stepped down at above LBSS

stations is distributed to smaller Load Block Distribution

Station (LBDS) located in each unit.
11 KV motors (above 200 kW rating generally) are
connected to LBDS.
In LBDS, transformers which convert power form
11 KV to 415 V and distributed to low tension loads.

HIGH VOLTAGE DISTRIBUTION

Two 220/33 kV Transformers installed at MRS feed

power to Township step down station (called as CPRS)

through 33 kV cables
Here the voltage is further stepped down to 11 KV
by two nos. of 33/11 kV transformers
11 KV overhead construction power lines to
township network
6.6 KV supply is mostly used for motors (of rating
>200 and <200 kW generally)

Medium Voltage Distribution

In each shop, to cater to Medium and Low voltage

load, 11 KV/415 V LCSS are formed.

Power is fed from LCSS to motors, MCC, Power
Distribution Boards (PDB), Lighting Distribution
Boards (LDB), ESP transformers etc. and for further
distribution.
PVC cables are used for medium voltage
distribution generally.

Low Voltage Distribution

Low voltage distribution consists of power supply on

single phase to lighting equipment, ceiling fans, portable

hand tools and domestic appliances etc.
For safety reasons, 24 V distribution is also provided

to cater to hand lamps etc. in some areas.

PVC cables are used.

LIGHTENING ARRESTOR
A lightning arrester is a
surge diverter is a
protective device which
conducts the high
voltage surges in the
power system to the
ground

HOT LINE WASHING

The washing
principle is based
on the action of
high-pressure water
jets emitted by
nozzles, which
move following a
path that
guarantees that the
jet reaches even
the most
inaccessible parts
of the insulator.
