CONTROL SYSTEM

BUILDING SERVICES

DEFINATION CONTROL
SYSTEM
a control system is any group of
components that maintains a desired
result or values by manipulating the
value of another variable in the
system.

Building Services Control

Systems
for large building usually consists of
a computerized system with a network of electronic
equipment to monitor and control equipment
mechanical, electrical, and lighting in buildings.
It determines the position of each damper and valve
in the system.
It determines the operating fans, pumps and chillers
at the prescribed speed or capacity.
It determines the temperature in the building at the
appropriate level; provide lighting on occupants;
monitor system performance and hardware failures
and provide information to the engineering staff.

THE NEED FOR CONTROL

Control system in ensuring effective

and efficient control of a building in
order to;
Provide comfortable and productive
working conditions.
Provide the proper environment for
industrial processes.
Operate in an energy efficient
manner.
Be environment friendly.

Control for Safety

protect equipment from damage
to guard against high temperatures,
low temperatures and fire hazards.
eg; pressure controls, antifreeze
devices, safety valves, limit switches
and fusible link dampers.

Control for Operability

produce economy of operation
devices able to reduce amount of
power, water and fuel consumption.
eg: water control valves on
refrigeration compressor.

Control for Profitability

managed not to waste
optimize the usage of raw material
eg; appropriate valve to control the
fuel production, aircond compressor
turn to off when the desired
temperature has been achieved

Control for Enviroment

A chemical plant might be thought of as a
collection of tanks in which materials are
heated, cooled and reacted, and of pipes
through which they flow.
Such a system will not, in general, naturally
maintain itself in a state such that precisely the
temperature required by a reaction is achieved,
a pressure in excess of the safe limits.
If not manage appropriately it will cause
pollution.

Listening Music

Ear =detects low level of sound

Brain =do analysis or comparison and
determine which action to be performed
to accomplish the desired level of sound
Body =implement the control action

Driving

eyes =detects the position

Brain =compares the two positions and
determines which actions to performed
to accomplish desired result
