Introduction
Antenna sizes became one of the greatest challenges in downsizing
wireless modules
Challenges are also due to their integration with boards containing
many electronic devices

Social demand has resulted developments and manufacturing of

modern wireless technologies such as WiMax,Wi-Fi,3G/4G/5G

All of these wireless module, antennas became the front-end of the

integrated electronic modules.

Multiband antenna has been done in different geometry in patch

antenna.

Compactness of the antenna is achieved based on Meta-material concept.

Electromagnetic meta-materials (MTMs) are broadly defined as artificial

effectively homogeneous electromagnetic structures with unusual properties not
readily available in nature
Meta-materials has led to the development of many novel devices that exhibit
superior performance characteristics compared to their conventional counterparts
or which exhibit new phenomena previously not observed.

Problem Statement

To integrate many services on todays wireless technologies we need to

have multiband antenna.

The multiband antenna has been done in different geometry in order to

achieve multiband, but the problem is the achievement of compactness
of the antenna

A technique has been introduced which is met-material. However,

antennas that have been designed based on meta-material can achieve
compactness but it suffers from a narrow bandwidth.

Objectives
The main objective of this research is to design a compact multi-band
antenna based on meta-material approach with enhanced bandwidth.
I. To design multiband antenna using composite right/left-handed (CRLH)
Transmission Line (TL).
II. To simulate and analyze it.
III. To fabricate antenna and test its performance with similar meta-material
antennas and the conventional patch antennas

Methodology
CST: Computer
Simulation Technology
VNA: Vector Network
Analyzer
MatLab: Matrix
Laboratory

Expected Outcome
The expected outcomes of this research which will hopefully be attained by the end
of the research deadline are :
I. A compact meta-material antenna with enhanced efficiency compared to the
conventional designs of meta-material antennas.
II. It is also expected to gain knowledge in the field of meta-material structure,
meta-material antenna analysis, synthesis, and fabrication
III. publishing article(s) in revered international or local journals and thesis.
