Belief in Angels

Part of Iman:
The Messenger believed in what has been revealed to

him from his Lord, as do the believers. Each one (of

them) believed in Allah, His angels, His books, and His
Messengers (al-Baqarah, 285).
It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness)that you turn
your faces towards east and (or) west (in prayers);
but Al-Birr is (the quality of) the one who believes
in Allah, the Last Day, the Angels, the Book, the
Prophets[2:177]
The Prophet (SAW) said, "Eemaan is to believe in Allah,
and His Angels, and His Books.. " [Al-Bukharee and
Muslim]

Whoever is an enemy
to Allah and His Angels
and Apostles, to
Jibraeel and Meeka'eel,
then, surely Allah is an
enemy to those who
rejects Faith. [2:98]

Characteristics of the Angels:

Creation:"Angels are created from light. The Jinns, from smokeless

fire, and Adam (alaihis salaam) from that already told to you (Imam
Ahmed bin Hanbal; Muslim)
Size:"From Abdullaah ibn Masood, who said: the Messenger of Allah
saw Jibreel in his true form. He had six hundred wings, each of which
covered the horizon. There fell from his wings jewels, pearls and
rubies, only Allah knows about them."
Wings:"[All] praise is [due] to Allaah, Creator of the heavens
and the earth, [Who] made the angels messengers having
wings, two or three or four. He increases in creation what He
wills. Indeed, Allah is over all things competent."[Quran 35:1]
Gender:
"Those who do not believe in the Hereafter, surely name the
angels with female names."
(Quran 53:27)

Number:

And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He.[74:31]
"Then I was taken up to the Much-Frequented House: every day
seventy thousand angels visit it and leave, never returning to it
again, another [group] coming after them." (Reported by alBukhaari)
Dont eat or drink:
But when he saw their hands went not towards it (the meal), he
felt some mistrust of them, and conceived a fear of them. They
said: "Fear not, we have been sent against the people of Lout
(Lot)." [11:70]
Ability to change form:
". . . Then We sent to her Our angel, and he appeared before her as

a man in all respects." [Maryam 19:17]

Speed:

Other Attributes
created to worship Allah and to carry out

His Command.
They (i.e. the angels) glorify His Praises
night and day, (and) they never slacken (to
do so). [21:20]
They commit no sin and have no free will:
Allah SWT saysangels stern (and)
severe, who disobey not, (from executing)
the Commands they receive from Allah, but
do that which they are commanded. [66:6]

They love the righteous and pray

for them:
and the angels praise and glorify
their Lord, and they ask forgiveness for
those on earth (42:5)
They pray against the wrongdoers:

Belief in the Revealed

Books and Scriptures

Proofs/Evidence
O you who believe! Believe in Allah, and

His Messenger, and the book that He has

sent down to His Messenger, and the
Scripture that He sent down to those
before, and whosoever disbelieves in
Allah, His Angels, His Books, His
Messengers, and the Last Day, then
indeed he has strayed far away. [4:136]

Our Belief:
1) Books were revealed by Allah S.W.T
2) Known Books and Scriptures
Scriptures of Ibraheem:
And this is in the former Scriptures, the Scriptures of

Ibraheem and Moosa.

[87:18-19]
Zaboor:
.and unto Dawood We gave the Zaboor. [17:55]
The Tawraah:
Verily, We did send down the Tawrah [to Moosa]. Therein
was guidance and light. [5:44]
Injeel:
Then, We sent after them, Our messengers, and We sent
'Eesa son of Maryam, and gave him the Injeel. [57:27]

Other books not mentioned in Quran:

According to a report in Musnad Ahmed collection

of Ahadith, Prophet Muhammad, Sall-Allahu

alayhi wa sallam, said: "From Adam to me, Allah
sent a hundred and twenty-four thousand
Prophets, of whom three hundred and fifteen
were entrusted with a Book.
Difference b/w Book and Scripture:

for the guidance of humanity at large. These

Suhuf contained good tidings, admonitions and

guidelines to regulate life.

Books of Jews and

Christians:
Old Testament:
Asfar:
39 (Latin Version)
46 (Greek Version)
New Testament:
4 Gospels (mata,yuhana,mirqas,luqas)
Asfar 23
Jews claim that their books are revealed by Allah.
Christians claim that their books were written by people after

Jesus Christ.
Mata and yuhana wrote bible when Esa A.S was alive
Original Bible was lost due to the severe opposition from Jews

3) Deviation:
Among those who are Jews, there are some who displace words

from (their) right places [4:46]

And from those who call themselves Christians, We took their
covenant, but they have abandoned a good part of the Message
that was sent to them.[5:14]

4) Abrogation of these books:

: {

And We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad],

the Book in truth, confirming that which preceded
it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it.
