geological and geographical foundations
of the Philippines; and
Present various theories concerning the
peopling of the Philippines in early times.

DIVINE THEORY:
In the beginning
GOD
created
the heavens
and
the earth
(Genesis 1: 1)

SCIENTIFIC
THEORY:
At first, because of
the tremendous
heat of the
fireball, it left
behind very
small particles.
But things cooled
and the first
atom was
formed. (Big

Galaxies were
formed
containing
billions of stars.
It was called the
Milky Way.

And God created
the sun to rule
the day
(Genesis 1:14-19)

SCIENTIFIC

Five billion years
ago, a star called
supernova was
exploded in the
milky way and all
other elements
were created
including the
sun.

DIVINE THEORY:
And God created
the earth
(Genesis 1:9-10)

heavier
elements, which
became the
planets.
The third planet
was the earth.

And God created
the moon to rule
the night
(Genesis 1:14-19)

And God said, let
there be life

released free
oxygen into the
atmosphere and

the earth
produced every
kind of living
creature
(Genesis 1:24-25)

SCIENTIFIC
THEORY:
Cells were
reproduced in
the sea. Plants
and animals
were created.

How old is the planet earth

according to present estimates?

It is the most widely known version in

Philippine history by H. Otley Beyer.

Filipinos came in waves of migration:
25,000- 30,000 B.C - Negritos:
5,000 6,000 B.C - Indonesians; &
3,000 B.C.- Malays

Wave of Migration Theory:

Debunked
The wave of migration theory is now

debunked by some historians and

archaeologists for lack of bases.
Professor H. Otley Beyers theory was
implying that our race, our culture was based
on foreign peoples culture and not that of our
own. That we, Filipinos are not Filipinos if it
were not for the Aetas, the Indonesians and
the Malays.

CORE POPULATION
THEORY
The southeast asian people who came here to the

Philippines became the core population which

shared common cultural traits or base culture.
Indonesians, Malays, and others
Differences came about because of their need to
adapt to their environment. There is no fixed
period of time nor a definite destination for these
immigrants.

Felipe Janda

Ocano, Robert
Fox and Manuel
Santiago
provided pieces
of evidence that
the first Filipinos
were the Tabon
Men found in
Tabon Cave,
Palawan.
