ABSTRACT
The Gravitational force or Body weight is used to

generate electricity with the help of Rack & Pinion, Gears,

Chain drive, Sprocket, PMDC Generator, Battery and
inverter.
By simply stepping on the mechanism the electricity is
generated without any production of harmful gases or any
other by product. It is a bio-friendly mechanism which
reduces the usage of conventional energy resources

Demand of power supply in

India

The energy policy of India is largely

defined by the country's

burgeoning energy deficit and
increased focus on
developing alternative sources of
energy, particularly
nuclear, solar and wind energy.
About 70% of India's energy
generation capacity is from fossil
fuels, with coal accounting for 40% of
India's total energy consumption
followed by crude oil and natural
gas at 28% and 6% respectively.

India is largely dependent on fossil fuel imports to meet its

energy demands by 2030, India's dependence on energy

imports is expected to exceed 53% of the country's total energy
consumption.
In 2009-10, the country imported 159.26 million tonnes of
crude oil which amounts to 80% of its domestic crude oil
consumption and 31% of the country's total imports are oil
imports.
The growth of electricity generation in India has been
hindered by domestic coal shortages and as a consequence,
India's coal imports for electricity generation increased by 18%
in 2010.

Introduction- Foot step generator

Power generation by foot step or body weight

already exist by piezo-electric effect .

For piezo-electric-effect output is very small and
more number of crystal is required to increase to get
sufficient output .
But in our method electrical power is produced with
no extra energy or attention is required, only human
body weight due to gravitational force is used here as
the fuel.

In this we are generating electrical power as non-

conventional method by simply walking or running on the

foot step.
Non-conventional energy using foot step is converting
mechanical energy into electrical energy by
FARADAYS LAW OF ELECTROMAGNETIC
INDUCTION.
Foot step generator can be used everywhere, where
human traffic is very much like shopping malls , cinema
hall , general markets, railway station , bus stand, sub way,
park and any housing complex entrance , etc.

Working Principle
When force is applied on the plate by virtue on stamping

on the plate the force spring gets compressed

The rack here moves vertically down
The pinion meshed with the rack gear results in circular
motion of the pinion gear
For one full compression the pinion Moves 1semicircle
When the force applied on the plate released the pinion
reverses and moves another semi-circle
The generator attached to the pinion hence results in the
sinusoidal waveform (for single Generator)

From the above table we can infer that the voltage

produced by the PMDC generator varies according to the

weight of the person stepping on it. So voltage is directly
proportional to the weight of the person. More the weight
of the person more the amount of voltage produced. More
voltage can be produce by increasing the transmission
ratio and gear ratio.

Conclusion
The project FOOT STEP POWER GENERATION

FOR RURAL ENERGY APPLICATION TO RUN

A.C. AND D.C. LOADS is successfully tested and
implemented which is the best economical, affordable
energy solution to common people. This can be used for
many applications in rural areas where power availability
is less or totally absence. As India is a developing country
where energy management is a big challenge for huge
population. By using this project we can drive both AC as
well as D.C loads according to the force.
