Library is shed of knowledge because there we can find some books that full

of knowledge. All of people free to go there to find the knowledge.

Libraries are very important for the progress and development of a society.
They are storehouse of knowledge. Libraries help to develop reading habits.
They mould the character. They help in personality development.
Libraries are significant for a civil society. They contain books on various
subjects ranging from history, science, fiction, literature, fashion, health and
beauty. Books contain good thought. They ensure accessibility to vast ocean
of knowledge to common man. There are people in every society who have
craving for reading but have no money to satisfy their urge. Libraries are
blessing for such people. The concept of the emergence of free libraries goes
back to the knowledge craving of such people. Actually libraries are treasureBooks

particular book easily. A member of a library can borrow a few books for a
particular period and take them home.
As acquisition of knowledge depends mostly on reading, man has to read as
necessarily as he has to eat. It adds to what he has already learnt and makes
him strong and fit for rude battle of life.

A well-stocked library is an asset of an instituion .There are kinds of libraries

personal, public and institutional.
A personal library is one which belongs to a private person, generally of
sufficient means. Such libraries grow out of such persons taste for
knowledge and, sometimes, for fashion. There are, of course, small scale
private libraries owned by solvent lawyers, educationists and persons of
literary taste. But such libraries contain books on some particular subject or
subjects chosen according to the taste and interest of their owners.
A public library is one which is open to the public. In order to cater to the
taste and interest of all classes of people, a public library has to contain
books on different subjects and varieties. Such libraries may be seen in large
numbers

country.

a college, a school, a chamber of commerce, a club or a
governmental department. Such a library is open to the members of the
institution concerned and, therefore, generally contains hooks which are
needed by them most.

No one can deny the importance of libraries. They are useful for
laymen, professionalsandscholars. They make ancient and modern
writings available to all those who cannot buy them. Costly
textbooks and rare manuscripts are stored in libraries for the use of
students andresearchscholars. In the fields of education, libraries
play a very important role. Many books which are not readily
available in the market, or are so costly that very few students can
by them, are available in the libraries. They are lent to the readers,
and thus one book serves the needs of many. Similarly foreign
publications and journals which are not imported by the book-sellers
are directly purchased by the libraries. Teachers borrow these books
and keep themselves abreast of all modern developments in the field
ofhumanitiesandsciences. In this manner the knowledge so
acquired is passed on to the students and ultimately contributes to
the national progress. But the general libraries which are meant for
the use of public are of no less importance. Which the spread of
education andincreasein the literacy rate demand for reading
materialincreases. Those who want to spend their leisure hours in
reading books become members of libraries and at a nominal cost
can read likes fiction, tales of adventure, historical narratives
andbiographies, the librarians keep a good stock of such books.
There are libraries exclusively meant for the for the specialists.
Books on subjects such as medicines, law , engineering and
technology are not kept in general libraries. Special libraries are
established for these technical subjects where professional people

Libraries attract people to read and thus create the habit of reading andstimulate the thirst for more and more knowledge. But for the libraries, there
would be no authors, no poets, and no thinkers. The libraries thus help in the
advancement of learning and expansion of knowledge.
The library has another very important use. No research work is possible
without a well equipped library containing valuable books of all ages, rare
manuscripts and old records. A library of this type is thus of incalculable help
in throwing light on unearthed subjects. Time passes in an unbroken
continuity as does the water of the river. The books of the libraries are a

educative use of library can not
be overestimated, because knowledge is gained through books and books are
held at the library. Students of all levels require books to improve their
existing knowledge and learn new facts about everything. Even a topcertified professor can not be called a smart person if he stops reading,
because the process of learning is continuous and does not have the end and
perfection. The library is the place where the men of wisdom gather and
receive knowledge about the spheres they are interested in.
The entertaining use of library is also connected with self-development,
because reading is also the useful rest. Years ago when the TV and the
Internet did not exist the only entertainment was a book. People continue
going to the library and read interesting books about everything pleasing
themselves with the literature of various genres.

Finally, the role of the library is to provide everyone with the opportunity of
self-education and self-development. Naturally, many people can not afford
buying all the books they want to read, so it is convenient and affordable to
