Strategic Management
Defined
A set of managerial decisions and actions that
determines the long-run performance of a
corporation. It include environmental scanning
(both external and internal), strategy
formulation (strategy or long-range planning),
strategy implementation, and evaluation and
control.
Originally called business policy, strategy
management incorporates such topics as
strategy planning, environmental scanning,
and industry analysis.

WHAT DO WE MEAN BY
STRATEGY?
A companys strategy is managements action
plan for running the business and conducting
operations. The crafting of a strategy
represents a managerial commitment to pursue
a particular set of actions in growing the
business, attracting and pleasing customers,
competing successfully, conducting operations,
and improving the companys financial and
market performance.
