Self-sacrifice

INTRODUCTION
You will not attain true goodness until
you give of what you love. (Surah Al
'Imran: 92)
one of the basic moral qualities
To attain real goodness
To give up, happily what they own, love,
and value

 All people are created with negative moral

tendencies that direct them toward
selfishness and egotism
Truly humanity was created
headstrong desperate when bad
things happen, begrudging(to allow or give
unwillingly) when good things come.
(Surat al-Ma'arij: 19-21)

How can we overcome?

By understanding belief in Allah
By practicing the Qurans moral teachings
Allah says that those who master their
lower self will attain salvation in this world
and the Hereafter: The people who are
protected from the avarice(strong desire to
obtain or keep wealth) of their own selves are
successful (Surat at-Taghabun: 16).

 They know that the main reasons for their existence are

to win Allahs favor and to conduct themselves in ways

that earn His good pleasure.
They know that this earthly life is very short and that they
have to work to attain success in the Hereafter.
They do not forget that all of this worlds benefits are
transitory and that one day they will stand in Allahs
presence and account for their life.
They are aware that those who pursue their own
interests here, instead of trying to attain Allahs favor,
mercy, and Paradise, will suffer eternal agony.

 self-sacrifice is far more than just giving part of ones

possesssions to someone
it is a way of life that comes from the strength of their
belief, pervades their whole life, and requires that they
sensitize themselves to their surroundings.
This involves feeling a sense of personal responsibility
for social problems and trying to solve the problems of
oppressed and needy people
Say: My prayer and my rites, my living and my
dying, are for Allah alone, the Lord of all the worlds.
(Surat al-An'am: 162)

THE CURRENT IMPORTANCE OF MUSLIMS

BEING SELF-SACRIFICIAL
We see almost every day on television and in the

newspapers all of the chaos, oppression, tyranny, and

injustice that results from rejecting this morality.
In Palestine, Chechnya, and East Turkestan
(Sinkiang/Xinjang), people struggle just to survive
Just in the twentieth century, we have seen hundreds of
thousands of unarmed civilians killed, women raped,
people tortured or maimed, loved ones killed or
disappeared, and many millions more driven out of their
homes and exiled from their homelands
Poverty and Poor Health Conditions
Child Labor and Exploitation

THE EXCUSE OF PERSONAL

PROBLEMS
they dwell on their personal problems: finding a good job, starting a

family, and investing for the future, among others

They consider satisfying these concerns to be more important than
striving to please Allah
O you who believe. Do not let your wealth or children divert
you from the remembrance of Allah. Whoever does that is lost.
(Surat al-Munafiqun: 9)
they place more importance on pleasing people than winning Allahs
favor
These people thought that they would suffer hardship, danger, and
difficulty if they did what the Prophet (saas) told, and so they tried to
make excuses by saying that they were needed at home, where
they had important responsibilities

Prophet (saas) and the believers, and did
all they could to stop them
did their best to either kill, exile, or
imprison him
