Construction of transmission line

can be divided mainly in following
five parts.
Survey
Foundation
Tower erection
Stringing
Testing and Commissioning

Survey
Survey plays a very vital role in successful completion of line and
proper maintenance thereafter. Survey is the most important and
critical activity for the reasons as follows

Best possible route

Right of Way.

Requirement of Environmental aspect.

Requirement of Techno-Economical Project.
Demand of building huge Network.
Social concern.
Reduction in time of implementation of
Project

Surveys
Transmission line survey can be
divided into followings
1a. Reconnaissance
1b. Walk over survey
1c. Preliminary survey
2. Detailed survey
3. Check survey

Point to be kept in mind during route

alignment
Thickly populated area, city, village, high
yielding/fertile land, Religious place, forest
area, rivers, EHV lines, mountains, big
ponds, lakes, airport, radio station, radar,
Paralleling with Power
line/telecommunication line should be
avoided.

Preliminary survey
Preliminary survey is conducted of the route
selected after walk over survey.

Point to be kept in mind:

No infringement to other line entering the
S/S
Selection of angle points
Angle of Deviation

Preliminary Survey

Alignment on the toposheet

Angle point with sectional length
Approach road including rail facility
Office/store location
Communication facility
Offices of forest, electricity office, railway etc.
Availability of workers
Season of working
Water/construction material source for
Railway crossing/ enumeration of trees
Soil resistivity/ sub soil water level
Provisional calculation of Bill of material for bidding and
planning purpose.

Detailed survey

Fixing of final Alignment

Fixing of Angles of deviation
Fixing of Angle Points
Fixing of Direction Points
